Recipient of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals second honors award for achievements during BS degree in 2001. PROFFESIONAL MEMBERSHIP and ACTIVITIES Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Member of Netherlands SPE Young Professionals Section Reviewer for the SPE Journal (SPEJ) AREAS OF RESEARCH Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) Worked on using 13C NMR spectroscopy for the structure elucidation of polyacrylamide-based (PAM-based) copolymers and polymers. These polymers are used for water control in conformance improvement treatments (CITs). The use of 13C NMR has lead to new cost-effective polymers. Rheology of Polymer Gels Developed skills on the use of steady shear viscometery as well as structurepreserving oscillatory tests for polymer gels. Steady shear is used for the determination of gelation time for polymer gels. It is used to investigate the effect of various parameters on gelation time. These parameters have a strong impact on field design of CITs. Visualization of Flow Through Porous Media Computed Tomography (CT) is used for visualization of flow of polymer gels in porous media. Insights and information on the displacement of gels in porous media can be obtained using CT. After treating cores with polymer gels, the modification of the porous media is examined using the CT technique. Moreover, the yield strength of these gels in porous media is examined with the aid of the CT technique. Inorganic Oilfield Scale in Water Supply Wells Worked on iron sulfide scaling mitigation project in water supply wells. Contribution included field water sampling from water supply wells, prepared a set up of experimental apparatus for lab dynamic adsorption testing, collected and evaluated lab and field data. Sandstone Acidizing of Oil Producing Wells Worked on sandstone acidizing project. Contribution included lab testing, coreflood experiments and interpretation of lab data. Field Application of Drag Reducing Agents Worked on field evaluation of a drag reducing agent applied in water disposal wells. Contribution included, logistics preparation for test, collection of data for two weeks during test, monitoring the field trial on site and analysis of field data. Tubing Pickling of Gas Wells Worked on performance evaluation of wellbore cleaning chemicals. Contributions included attending field treatments, collection of field data, collection of field samples and analysis of field data as well as field samples data. Acid Fracturing of Gas Wells Worked on gas wells fracturing campaign. Contributions included, attending fracturing treatments at the field, collection of field data, field samples and interpretation of field samples analysis data. That included the collection and interpretation of more than 45 gas wells flow back data representing more than 1000 samples. Corrosion Control During Acidizing Treatments Worked on the effect of acid flow back on the corrosion rate of well tubulars. Contribution included data collection and analysis of acid samples and flow back samples after fracturing treatments. Giving Training Gave a session on "Petroleum Well Stimulation" on 23rd September 2003. That was a one-day session as part of the Saudi Aramco’s COE 201 Course titled, “Chemical Cleaning for Upstream and Downstream Operations” Saudi Aramco, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
