Talk about putting your best foot forward!
How about the Military Boot very much on display in the Courtyard
last Sunday and this Sunday too. You made an offering for our
Veterans of almost $12,000.00. Thanks a million for this terrific
outreach for our proud American Veterans!
Jesus is very specific about the homeless and this is a great
way to keep them in your thoughts and prayers this Christmas
season...

National Homeless Memorial Service is held each year on the longest
night of the year, bringing attention to the tragedy of homelessness and
remembering our friends who have paid the ultimate price for being without a home. The Memorial Service will start at 4:30 p.m. The Arundel
House of Hope will provide complementary AHOH keychain lights, which
each person will light up at sunset during the light vigil. The Rev. Wolfgang D. Herz-Lane, Bishop of the Delaware-Maryland Synod, of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be the keynote speaker.
Justin Beiler from the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services will assist in reading the names of those persons who are homeless
and died in the past year. Others will read the names from their institutions that pasted away in the last year. The service will close with music
and prayer at 5:30 p.m. Visit Arundel House of Hope online
www.arundelhoh.org. For more information, email crc@arundelhoh.org or
call 410.863.4888. The House of Hope is asking those interested in

th
Last Monday, Nov. 10 , we had our first Special Session of the year entitled “Thanksgiving and Discipleship.” We discussed the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, and shared real, concrete ways we can accomplish them. God does so
much for usAwe owe God everything! We can show God our thanks by loving himAby following his commands. When we
follow God’s commands, we become his disciples/followers. God is asking us to love one another. Therefore, to love others
is to be a disciple of JesusAwhich is to show our thankfulness to God!
This Monday, Nov. 17th, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm (not 6:30pm), we will celebrate with a special Thanksgiving Mass with Father Raff, followed by a real Thanksgiving Feast. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are welcome and encouraged to join us!
Parents and siblings are encouraged to join us for Mass too.
We have homework every week (just a few minutes worth). The students will not only bring a copy home with them, but we
will also e-mail the homework to parents this year, and it is usually on our website (www.olchesapeake.org). If you are not
receiving an e-mailed copy of the homework, then we probably don’t have your e-mail address; please e-mail Tim
(tjaniszewski@olchesapeake.org) and let him know your e-mail address. Thanks!
Contact Tim Janiszewski if you have any questions or concerns (tjaniszewski@olchesapeake.org or 410-255-3677).
High School Youth Ministry
Our Sunday evening meetings will be on break for a few weeks. Session 2 will begin on Sunday, Nov. 30th from 6:308:30pmAthe theme will be Advent! All high school students are welcome and encouraged to join us! If you have any questions, please contact Tim Janiszewski (410-255-3677).
We were on our Fall Retreat last weekend (Nov. 7th-9th). Over 50 of us went to the Hashawha Environmental Center in
Westminster, MDAand turned it into a spiritual center! We had an amazing time - the weather was terrific; the students
were engaged, participatory, and joyful; the games were fun; the free time filled with hikes, sports, and naps; the small group
sessions were interactive and educational; and the prayer service and Mass with Fr. Raff were meaningful. We were so
proud of the students!
Our theme for the Retreat was “Go Light Your World”, and it was all about the Eucharist. The students had an opportunity to experience the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, Jesus’ passion and death on Good Friday, and the his joyful resurrection on Easter Sunday. They also learned that Jesus is offering us his very self EVERY week so that we can be united
with Him; so that we can be united with the communityAthe ChurchAwith each otherAall around the world and EVEN in
Heaven; so that we can be forgiven; so that we can gain a new perspective and recognize in our own sufferings and sacrifices that we share in Jesus’ sufferings and sacrifices for us; so that we can be nourished and fueled to go out and BE Jesus
to everyone we meet and serve them; so that we can accept the gift of NEW LIFE being offered to us; so that we can recognize how madly in love God is with us; so that we can become WHOLE; and in all that recognition and giftednessAso that
we can give thanks and CELEBRATE! We promise youAyou will be TRANSFORMEDAand then you will transform the
world! Go Light Your World!
Wednesday Night Group
Our Wednesday Night Group is a voluntary faith formation group for high school students. If you are in 9th-12th grade and
you’re interested in pursuing your faith beyond what we do Sunday evening, AND in a relaxed setting, come join us please!
(Note: Our Sunday evening meetings are wonderful with great content; the WNG is more relaxed, and yet deeper discussions.) We meet, you guessed it, Wednesday evenings, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The topic is different every evening, but
always has to do with faith (prayer, current events, morality, debates, etc.), and always has to do with you! We would love to
have you join us!
If you have any questions about Youth Ministry, please contact Tim Janiszewski (410-255-3677 or
tjaniszewski@olchesapeake.org).
Just a reminder that in the event Anne Arundel County Schools are closed for inclement
weather, Religious Education Events and Classes will also be cancelled.
If inclement weather occurs on the weekend,
please visit our Facebook Page or our website www.olchesapeake.org for updates.
If possible, we will also update the phone message of the church office, 410-255-3677.
