Detectives Arrest Man in Connection with
Robbery and Homicide
On December 26, 2014 at approximately 5 a.m. LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched
to a Walgreens located in the 8500 block of West Cheyenne Avenue to investigate
reports of an employee shot during a robbery. Arriving officers entered the store and
discovered a male laying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The male was
pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
A joint preliminary investigation conducted by homicide and robbery detectives indicates
a male suspect entered the store and kidnapped a female employee at gunpoint. The
suspect proceeded to remove cash from the store’s safe and remained in the store
approximately one hour. He confronted a male employee forcing him and the female
into a back room where he shot the male several times and fled the scene. The female
employee then called 911.
The suspect was described as an Asian male adult, standing approximately six feet tall.
He was last seen wearing gray pants, gray shirt, a black pea coat and was armed with a
handgun.
During the course of the investigation detectives identified 25 year-old Jin Ackerman as
the suspect in this incident and a separate robbery which occurred on December 24, at
a Walgreens located in the 9400 block of West Desert Inn Road.
As a result of the investigation detectives tracked Ackerman to a residence in the 1600
block of April Shower Place. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence
and Ackerman was taken into custody by the LVMPD SWAT team.

Ackerman was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces the
following charges:




First Degree Murder with the use of a weapon
Kidnapping with use of a weapon, 4 counts
Robbery with use of a weapon, 4 counts
Burglary with use of a weapon, 2 counts
This remains an ongoing investigation. A booking photo of Ackerman accompanies
this release.
The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by
the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with any information about this incident is
