History’s Mysteries (An Inquiry Project) Throughout history many strange events have occurred that are still unexplained. You have been chosen as a history detective to explore these events and help shed some light on the truth. Use the following steps to help solve a mystery from history. Step 1: Choose Your Case You will be given a list of current case files and will have to choose which one you will investigate. Step 2: Investigate Research the evidence and examine the clues that past history detectives have uncovered. Check out these areas of evidence: Background information: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? What is the timeline of events for the mystery? Most recent facts and clues Theories and possible explanations or results Step 3: Deduce and Hypothesize Using the evidence and clues from past history detectives, develop your theory for what happened or is going on. Make sure that you have evidence to support your hypothesis because a good detective cannot offer his/her ideas without facts that support. Step 4: Report Your Findings Create a Prezi that walks us through the details and timeline of your case. Do not forget to include your evidence. At the end of your presentation, share your theory of what happened or is occurring. Be sure to keep the presentation neat and organized so the other history detectives can follow your case. They will also be asking you questions to test your understanding and hypothesis.
