Armed Robbery
1500 Edgewater Drive
7-11 Convenience Store

August 19th, 2011 @ 11:09 pm
Call is received regarding Commercial Robbery.
 Suspect described as W/M with face covered.
 Suspect had a large knife when he entered.
 Employee and manager locked themselves in the
front office while suspect jumped the counter.
 Suspect demanded the employee open register but
she remained in the office.
 Suspect tried to open cash drawer but was not
successful. He fled out of the back door.






Patrol first arrived at 11:13 pm.
K-9 Ofc. N. Russell arrived and began a track
which ended in the 800 block of Guernsey St.
K-9 “Raptor” located the mask worn by the
suspect during the track.
Patrol continued the investigation and notified
Detectives.
Sgt. D. Esan and Det. R. Rivas responded to the
scene.



The Robbery Unit received information from
CrimeLine on the morning of 8-19-11 regarding
the previous robbery from 8-18-11.
These leads were followed up on and led to 723
Guernsey St.
Esan and Rivas made contact with:

Joshua N. Frey (W/M 12-13-90)




Frey cooperated with detectives and probable
cause was established to charge Frey with:
-Armed Robbery with a Mask.
The investigation resulted in probable cause
being established for OPD case #11-365332
(8-18-11) where Frey was charged with an
additional charge of:
-Armed Robbery with a Mask




Frey was booked in the Orange County Jail and
held on a “No Bond” status.
After a search of Frey’s home, the hooded
sweatshirt, shorts, and plastic bag from both cases
were recovered.
No employees of the business were injured during
either case.
*This case is being looked into by the ATF for
possible Federal Prosecution.
