We have been very fortunate to secure some funding from the Government’s ‘National Partnerships’. These added funds
will allow us to run many different programs within the school, all aiming to improve our student learning outcomes. As
part of the school’s drive to improve Mathematics results and to engage students in the subject, the school has decided
to use some of these funds to purchase the computer software program, Mathletics.
Mathletics is an interactive, individualised program which can be used at school and at home. There are over one
thousand learning activities for students aged 5-18, which respond to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. This
allows students to work through the program at their own pace. The animated tutorials allow students to receive extra
help. Students and teachers receive instant feedback on progress. Tutorials and feedback allow students to receive
additional assistance in the classroom and at home. Our Maths teachers will have students accessing the program in
class as part of the course content.
Mathletics will benefit not only students and staff, but just as importantly the parents as they are able to monitor what
students are doing and support the learning that is occurring in class.

In addition to the above there are also interactive games where your son or daughter can play against other students
worldwide, increasing their confidence and understanding in a whole range of topics. The website is a safe and
controlled environment where students are able to work mathematically and are also able to play mathematical games
against other users in a safe environment.
The curriculum for Mathletics is already linked to the Australian Curriculum for Year 7 - 10, allowing easy use for
teachers as we start to implement the Australian curriculum next year. Mathletics has developed its ‘teacher centre’
allowing teachers to individualise the learning of all students by being able to differentiate their work with regards to
their achievement in linked activities. This will allow us to manage a class with a range of abilities in different topics.
Through this funding we have been able to offer the program at a reduced price. We are asking for a student
contribution of $5.00 to cover the annual subscription for your child (normally valued at $30.00).

on 11th December, with the students’ completed resource list.
