Hospitality industry is the world’s fastest growing industry accountable of earning incredible profits in the international market. With the total rooms inventory available already falling short, the Rev-Par has started climbing from 6% to 8% and would result to about 20% raise at the end of the current year. Such an increase in market performance of various hotels and hotel chains evidently means that the industry will be investing more and more in order to meet the needs resulting into many new companies and hotel chains coming up and building their empires there by running short of hospitality professionals. Also due to various tourism based events like the world cup2007, shopping festivals, commonwealth games and other such events hospitality is gaining an acute pace. Regardless of the disruptive events taking place in recent times the hospitality industry has managed to cope up with its ill effects. This makes me feel more inviting to join the industry and for me working for this industry is more than an honor. Never in my family has anybody tried out hotel management as profession but observing my friends who work with this giant industry I realized that hotel management is not just about cooking good food or carrying salvers and trays its about making guests feel welcomed and make them comfortable by all and any means necessary, and while doing so observing a highly sophisticated and professional attitude, maintaining team work and leadership. And for delivering such an extreme conduct I realized that this profession demands good communication, inter-personal, networking, problem solving skills and a passion to reach new heights of perfection. I had already made up my mind to peruse a career in hospitality industry so immediately after my HSC; I gave the all India entrance exam for the Institute of hotel management and got through with Jodhpur as my center. I indulged myself into the academics as well as extra curricular activities of IHM with all my heart. At the institute, I attended every event like festivals, Theme parties and other functions with me at the organizing side so as to discover every aspect of hospitality and hotel administration. As a part of syllabus, I it is compulsory to attend six months of industrial training during the second year, and getting it done from J.W Marriott Mumbai was an overwhelmingly learning experience. Marriott group of hotels is one of the world’s largest chains of five star hotels and apart from being the largest chain of hotels it also holds the most luxurious hotel properties in the world providing unparalleled service which sets the highest standards. I grabbed every piece of information I possibly could, and because of providing a exceptional service I was awarded with excellent remarks on my certificates. And also my training report was regarded as the best in the class. Also as a part of the syllabus, I undertook research project “Impact of information technology on hospitality industry” which helped me to explore the engineering side of my family and make it of good use in my profession, and made this project one of the best reports in my batch. After completion of my degree I took up a job as Front Office GSA at Hotel Renaissance And Convention Centre, Powai which is again a part of Marriott Group of Hotels. While on job I realized that I had just started the journey of my career and I have to reach my destination, the thirst for perfection still remains and I need to quench it. Even though being completed bachelors degree in hospitality and hotel administration, I realized that I still need to learn a lots of things, so I have decided to do a masters degree in hospitality and hotel administration but in India there are no such institutes that can provide me with highly sophisticated and updated knowledge of this industry also hospitality industry in India is still in its infancy and when the industry itself is still not flourished how can it teach me about the facts ,I need to get the latest trends and facts that take place where tourism is already developed and is in its full glory which motivated me to take a peek across the borders of India and checkout some of the places in the world where hospitality has spread its roots deep . That is why I choose United Kingdom to do my masters from According to me the foremost advantage of studying in UK is in terms of exposure giving me access to unlimited culture and communities coming different countries which will be helpful for me in developing my professional side and also give me an in-depth understanding an exposure to the hospitality industry. And having an international qualification can also help me gain an added advantage and recognition on international grounds of competition. And after thorough study I realized that the masters in hospitality program offered by the university is the best suited for my professional ambition and interests. I am hence looking forward for gaining management skills and see my self working for the top hotel chain at management post; I am convinced that to realize my dreams better this qualification from UK can help me a long way. I believe that this esteemed university can help me evolve into a better professional and accomplish my dreams.
