50% INTERIM EVENTS:
Writing monthly schedules for interim events and restroom personnel.
Train even staff in the rules of the Fairgrounds and proper customer relations.
Review time slips to ensure events are billed properly.
Ensure all rental equipment is billed correctly.
Meet with Off-Season Rental Coordinator on a regular basis to discuss billing and any problems with events.
Assist in developing rules and policies to protect the Fairground’s interest and property for interim events.
Inspect buildings, restrooms and grounds before, during and after events to ensure an adequate level of cleanliness so that customers and promoters are satisfied.
Ensure all materials requested for an event are available as ordered.
Work and communicate with promoters and vendors to meet their needs in a polite, courteous and cooperative manner while maintaining the rules of the Fairgrounds.
Supervise and schedule the work of maintenance, custodial and interim events staff to ensure buildings and grounds are properly prepared for an event.

35% MAINTENANCE: Supervises and coordinates the work of maintenance full/part time staff and custodial staff to ensure the buildings and grounds are kept to strict standards.
Supervision of staff :
1.
Recommend personnel actions related to hiring and disciplinary actions including dismissal.
2.
Complete annual performance evaluations on full time employees.
3.
Work with full and part-time employees to resolve disputes and to ensure that job responsibilities are understood.
4.
Cross train new full time employees to enable them to work both maintenance and interim events.
5.
Plan weekly work schedules and make day to day adjustments as priorities change.
6.
Implement employee safety programs.
7.
Monitor employees to ensure safety regulations are adhered too.
Supervision of work:
1.
Checking time slips to ensure labor cost are properly recorded.
2.
Monitor the use of equipment so that safety rules are followed.
3.
Evaluate work in progress to ensure that an efficient, quality work level is maintained.
4.
Supervise employees to ensure the streets and sidewalks are kept clean; grass trimmed and mowed.
5.
Supervise employees to ensure walks and streets are clear of ice and snow.
6.
Make routine inspections of building and equipment.
Provide recommendations for maintenance, repair and/or replacement.
7.
Supervise routine maintenance to buildings and refer more extensive repairs to the Assistant Plant Operations
Manager.

Monitor the work of outside contractors to ensure they meet their contract obligations.

Contact vendors to obtain competitive bids for materials and equipment.

Evaluate and recommend the use of outside contractors to supplement staff needs.

Coordinate and supervise trash removal.

15% Iowa State Fair:
Prepare all buildings used during the Fair including ticket booths, restrooms and barns.
Ensure barns are disinfected and bedded.
Supervise the set-up of park benches and bleachers on the grounds for stages.
Order bedding, panels and chutes to meet Fair requirements.
Schedule equipment operators and maintenance staff for barn clean-outs to ensure they are completed on schedule.
Schedule clean-out times with our contracted waste removal company so waste does not accumulate outside of the barns.
Schedule daily tie-out bedding.
Meet with barn superintendents on a daily basis to ensure their needs are met.
Clean buildings and grounds after the Fair in a timely manner to ensure they are ready for scheduled interim events.
Check equipment for any needed repairs and prepare for winter storage.
Supervise and schedule the work of maintenance and custodial staff to ensure buildings and grounds are ready to use prior, during and after the
Fair.
