One thing is for sure - for the Bride and Groom, the Best Man’s speech is no laughing
matter. Very few Bride’s can deny that they have not worried slightly about their Groom’s
choice of Best Man and the paranoid possibility that he might ruin her meticulously
planned special day. Sadly this is because, whether you like it or not, Best Men often tend
to write their speeches at the last minute, think they have all day to say it, forget your
granny is listening, don’t practice, know little about wedding etiquette and generally do a
pretty poor and forgettable job. With the launch of an extraordinarily popular new venture
by Annabella Forbes help is at hand!

who need help writing, delivering or just practicing their speech. So far she has had a
100% success rate. Not in London? No matter - Annabella has recently coached a young

Perhaps it’s to do with the fact that men find it harder to practice their speeches in front of
other men. Annabella remedies this: as a girl she is impartial, will impart valuable pearls of
wedding etiquette wisdom and make sure the speech is relevant to everyone. Importantly
she will teach the Best Man how to enjoy giving the speech rather than lose sleep over it.
She will make ensure he fills his time with charming, witty, fun, thoughtful humour
delivered in the best way possible. This charismatic young thing is quite literally a best
man’s best friend!
Annabella decided to launch this new venture after helping many of her male friends with
their speeches. She has also been witness to 100’s of wedding speeches that could have
been brilliant were a little more effort and preparation put in, insisting that it doesn’t take
much to turn something terrible into something great. Annabella has a huge amount of
experience in performance, public speaking, improvised comedy, speech-writing,
coaching, and general morale-boosting plus a handy degree in English and Anthropology
from Durham University. She insists that it is not necessary that she know the Groom - in
fact it is actually better she doesn’t!
Forbes calls herself a social scientist (sort of): “these speeches are one of the main events
(apart from the vows themselves) of a wedding and as such they make up one of the three
(only two of which you are alive for) most important rights of passage in our culture. This is
why people need to take time to do a good job. Best Men have a responsibility not just for
the Bride and Groom but for everyone else there.”
