Julius Caesar
Pre AP Summer Projects
Due date: First School Day
DIRECTIONS: Choose two of the activities below to present to the class on the first school day.
Remember these projects must reflect an understanding of the story you were required to read.
1. ILLUSTRATION: Choose a quote from Julius Caesar. Creatively and decoratively, write or draw the
quote so that it may be visible from a distance. Indicate the name of the character that spoke the words.
Include a drawing of the character or of an important object from the play. You will present and explain
the meaning of the illustration during a two- to three-minute presentation. You must include the
explanation in written form as well, at least a page typed.
2. SET DESIGN: Construct a 3-D model of a scene. You will present & explain the meaning of the set
during a two- to three-minute presentation. You must include the explanation in written form, as well. This
should be at least one page typed.
3. MONOLOGUE: Present a MEMORIZED monologue of at least 25 lines to the class. Costumes and
props must also be present. Any unnatural pauses in your speech will take points away from your speech.
4. NEWSPAPER: Create at least a 4-page newspaper that could have been printed during the days of
Julius Caesar. Come up with a name and then write the columns for the paper. Sections of the newspaper
may include: Front Page Headline and Article, Gossip Column, Obituaries, and Ads. Include two pictures.
You will present and explain the newspaper during a two- to three-minute presentation. It can be done with
a computer or handwritten. Remember that it should look older & reflect the ideas of Julius Caesar.
5. SONG LYRICS: Choose one character from Julius Caesar and select a theme song for them. You must
submit your lyrics and your one page typed explanation of how the lyrics relate to the character. You must
also play the song aloud in class and give explanation from your paper to the class.
6. THEME PARK: Create a theme park based upon one of his most famous plays, Julius Caesar. Then
you must design a brochure for the park which is neatly designed and MUST relay the information from
below. The more creative you are, the better your score. Connect things from the reading. What would
Caesar have eaten or enjoyed doing at a theme park? Some things to include could be:
1. What is the name of the theme park?
2. What attractions will you have? A theme park should have 5 major attractions to advertise.
3. Where is the theme park located?
4. What is the cost of admission?
5. What restaurants and other amenities are available?
7. CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Pick a character from Julius Caesar. Analyze the character’s personality
through their interactions with others, as well as their own actions. Prepare a two page typed analysis of
the character using information from the reading.
