**ACTIVITIES/EVENTS and THINGS TO KNOW**
**If you are interested in playing for the Sunset Men’s Golf Team, please see
Coach Kienlen in room D-8. You will need to sign up with him by February 28th
either during AT or after school. Try out information will be available when you
sign up.
**Women’s Golf is having a preseason meeting on Thursday, February 27th at
2:35pm in Coach Buell’s room – K-2. Information to be covered includes proper
paperwork, how try-outs will work, and the upcoming season. See you there!
**First Wrestling, now Swimming! Sunset Men’s and Women’s Swimming Teams
are Metro League District Swimming Champions! Each team won their title this
past weekend. Individual Metro Champions in their event are Emily Cheng in the
200 yd Freestyle, Megan Lam in the 200 yd Individual Medley, Tristan Furnary in
the 100 yd Freestyle, and Jonathan Zoucha in the 200 yd Freestyle & 100 yd
Butterfly. Sunset also won Metro League titles in the following relays: 200 yd
Medley Relay made up of Megan Lam, Nina Stitt, Angela Liu, and Emily Cheng;
400 yd Freestyle Relay made up of Megan Lam, Haley Fellows, Nina Stitt, and
Emily Cheng. On the Men’s side, Metro Titles belong to Tristan Furnary, Blake
Hulstrom, Jonathan Zoucha and Josh Noll in the 200 yd Medley Relay, and in the
400 yd Freestyle are Jonathan Zoucha, Braden Esping, Josh Null and Tristan
Furnary. Additional individual state qualifiers include Alina Chang, Camille Andre,
Kate Westlake, Samuel Shelley, Bryden LeClair, Austin Chang, Colin Aslett, and
Evan Curtis. Congratulations to everyone, and the best of luck at the State
Championships at Mt. Hood Community College this Friday & Saturday.
**Let’s not be shy about our wrestling team and their huge victory last week:
Sunset wrestling is Metro League Champions for the first time ever!! Tuesday
night (February 12th) Sunset won an action-packed meet against Aloha to win the
title. Up next for the newly crowed Metro League Champs will be the Regional
Meet at Forest Grove High on February 21-22nd. Congratulations and good luck
Apollos!
**Apollos Unplugged – The Love Edition – will be TONIGHT - Friday night,
February 21sth at 7:00 pm in the commons, and admission is $4.00. Don’t miss
this evening of love songs! THIS IS A DATE CHANGE*
**National Honor Society (NHS) is recruiting new Sophomore and Junior
members until February 24th. NHS is an academic/service/leadership club and
entry requirements include: 3.5 GPA, leadership/community service experience,
and two (2) hard copy letters of recommendation from 2 teachers at Sunset.
Applications can be picked up in rooms 1-2 (Nolan) and D-6 (Miller).
**Outdoor School is recruiting volunteer counselors who would love to work with
grade school children in the great outdoors. Between March 17th and June 6th you
could spend one week at the beach or in the forest working with kids, and
learning about the environment/ecology via hands-on experiments. See the
Counseling Office for more details.
**LOOKING AHEAD**

**Save the Date: March 6 is the next Sunset Blood Drive, and we want you to
participate. Sign up information will be available in the commons in the coming
weeks.
**Sunset merchandise will again be for sale in the Commons on March 6th & 7th
during both lunches.
**Lock in your date for Sunset’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie”. This Spring
Musical will run March 6, 7, 8 and again on March 13, 14, 15th in the
Auditorium. The curtain will rise at 7:30 pm, and the doors open at 7:00 pm.
Tickets can be purchased on line at seatyourself.biz/shstheatre or at the door each
evening. Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students and $5.00 for
seniors. Don’t miss this evening of song and dance.
**ACADEMIC HELP**
**Homework help is here!! NHS (National Honor Society) Peer Tutoring is
available to all students. To attend, get your planner signed by your own AT
teacher and then go to the appropriate location. Listed below are the subjects,
teacher and location of subjects available for tutoring: Chemistry/Miller/D-6;
Literature/Nolan/Library; Math/Quinn/F-5; Physics/Hampton/A-15;
Technology/Galbraith/1-20; Japanese & Spanish/Aguillon/H-5. The help you
need is available – no more excuses!
**SENIORS**
**Congratulations to all the students who completed their Senior Exhibition
presentations. The vast majority of you are done! If you missed your
presentation, please stop by the Counseling Office to reschedule with Alix Loeber.
