Dear Friends:
Without a doubt, 2008 brought extreme challenges for beef producers. In the past year, a record number of producers have
exited the business, due to the suffering economy. However, at Nolz Limousin, we truly believe that the most successful cattle
producers have weathered their share of bad storms. If you are one of those producers, we want to invite you to invest in our seed
stock to help make 2009 a success.
We stand strongly behind Limousin genetics and believe these cattle make a perfect cross on English based females. Now is a
great time to have Limousin genetics in your cowherd. With proven genetics that perform in a feedlot setting, the Limousin breed
offers a variety of marketing opportunities. In today’s market, consumers are demanding a healthful, lean product, and Limousin has
what it takes to meet those needs. Strauss Veal and Laura’s Lean Beef are just a few of these marketing opportunities for Limousin
genetics.
With that being said, we have a great selection of black and red bulls to choose from at competitive prices. The majority of the
bulls are priced from $1,800 to $2,500 per head, with the exception of a few choice bulls. We take pride in offering a uniform group
of cattle, and we will work hard to find the bull that best fits your needs. Enclosed is our Bull Progress Report on our upcoming
yearling Limousin bulls available at private treaty.
The bull calves received limited creep feed prior to weaning, which we feel helps get them on feed at weaning time. After
weaning, the bulls are fed to gain to around 3.0 pounds per day which brings out the differences, but maintain their structural
soundness. The bulls on test are not on self feeders and not fed hard to insure their longevity. The bulls are averaging over 3.5
pounds per day gain on a ration of corn, protein supplements, vitamins and alfalfa grass mixed hay.
The bulls will have a breeding soundness exam conducted on them in April 2009. We will keep the bulls until after the
breeding soundness exams are completed unless otherwise desired. Our policy is if a bull is selected, we request half paid down,
with the balance due when the bull is picked up.
At Nolz Limousin, we plan to continue our tradition of raising quality seedstock for commercial cattlemen. Despite the
challenging times of the past year, we are confident that the tides will turn for those who face adversity head on. This is our 26th year
of private treaty Limousin Bull sales, and we thank you for your past interest in our cattle and look forward to working with you in the
future. If you would like more information about our cattle, or would like to view the bulls, please feel free to contact us. Check out
our website for the most up to date information at www.nolzlimousin.com.
Sincerely,
Dave Nolz Family
