Anatomy and Physiology Mr. Schmidt Anatomy and Physiology Classroom Guidelines 1. In order to effectively and successfully conduct class lectures and labs, classroom behaviors and attitudes need to be of a very good nature. Disruptions of any nature will not be tolerated and will be dealt with as quickly and fairly as possible. - All in All – BEHAVE!!! 2. MATERIALS 1. Three-ring Binder 2. Colored pencils 3. NO CELL PHONES OR IPODS OUT DURING CLASS. Anyone caught with a cell phone/IPOD will be asked to put it away once, if I see it again I will take it for the remainder of the period. 4. Grading: All course work (Tests, homework, labs, etc) is assigned a specific point value. Unless group activities are specifically assigned, all homework assignments are to be completed individually by the student. The coursework will be split up as follows: 70% Summative (Tests, Quizzes, Practicals, Dissections etc.) and 30% Formative (homework and labs). The system-wide board adopted grade/percentage scale will be used in order to determine specific letter grades. All students should easily be able to record and keep track of their quarterly progress. Multiple assessment methods will be used. Besides the regular tests, quizzes, homework, and write-ups, there will be projects and laboratories. 5. LATE WORK: Any work not completed by the assigned due date can be turned in by the unit test for ALL or PARTIAL credit. 6. Students will pick their classroom and lab seating. Specific lab equipment will be issued to each lab group of no more than 2 persons. The members of the lab group are solely responsible for the care and use of the equipment. Damage due to misuse or careless handling will result in a fee being assessed for the replacement value of that equipment, 7. During labs, unless otherwise instructed, all students will remain in their assigned stations. At no time will anyone be permitted in storage areas in the classroom. 8. MISSED ASSIGNMENTS ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT. All missed work must be completed to the satisfaction of the teacher. A student will receive one day of make-up time for each day of excused absence. After that time, the late work policy goes into effect. If a TEST or ASSIGNMENT HAD BEEN ASSIGNED BEFORE AN ABSENCE, THE STUDENT WILL MAKE UP THE TEST OR TURN IN THE ASSIGNMENT UPON THE FIRST DAY OF RETURN TO THE REGULAR CLASSROOM. 9. Cheating in any manner will not be accepted. Anyone caught cheating will be given a referral and he/she will have to make-up the assignment. Refer to the Student-Parent Handbook regarding the other consequences for cheating and not completing work independently. 10. We will be using an ebook this year. All students will be given information for creating their username and password. 11. Major student work (tests, papers, etc.) will be kept by the classroom teacher in order for parental viewing if there are any questions. Tests will remain in the building. Parents may contact me at any time to review tests and class work. 12. All parents are encouraged to contact the school if any concerns exist. 13. A study session/help session can be scheduled by the student at any time. 14. E-mail communications are encouraged. Please have your parents list an e-mail address for receiving these communications. 15. Attendance/Tardy Policy: If the student is more than 25 minutes late to class, they are considered absent. For tardy consequences, please refer to the Student-Parent Handbook. 16. Twitter account: I will occasionally post tweets on upcoming tests and quizzes, which may or may not have clues as to what to study for the test. I would like all of my students to follow me on twitter in case I need to get important information out in a timely manner. @ntmyisdaschmidt To the student: Please review this information and sign the bottom portion of this sheet.
