Background Info Altium growth rate exceeds the market Altium, developer of next generation electronics design software and services, provides a three-year comparison of quarterly sales results and public market statistics published by the EDA Consortium. The analyzed data covers 12 quarters, from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2012, which represents 3 financial years for Altium. Taking the first quarter of this period as the reference point for the reported figures, Altium showed a linear growth of 6.9% per quarter while the overall PCB & MCM market grew by only 1.5% per quarter. This outperformance of the market became even greater in the last financial year with Altium posting growth rates between 13% and 113% compared to the reference quarter, whereas the PCB & MCM market grew just 5% to 11%. This is reflected in Altium’s results for the last financial year. Altium recorded sales of US$61.2m, up 21% from the corresponding period a year ago, and revenue of US$55.2m, up 14%. Sales growth combined with careful management of working capital has also seen the cash balance double to over US$13m since this time last year. The strongest performing region was Europe (25%), closely followed by Greater China (23%), APAC (21%) and the Americas (19%). “We are very pleased with the strong growth we have achieved during the last financial year and that we were able to win several thousand new customers worldwide. This is proof that more and more electronics designers are adopting the unique Altium design methodology. The results put us in an exceedingly strong market position, especially when compared with recent reports from the EDA Consortium which reflect a stagnation or even slight decrease in the PCB & MCM market for the same period,” stated Martin Harris, Global Head of Sales at Altium. Recent Product Update As of March 2011, when a new version of its award-winning unified electronics design solution Altium Designer was announced, Altium has been providing a unique software delivery model. Unlike previous versions, this next evolution of Altium Designer is delivered as part of a continuous update model. This means that new features and functionalities, as well as improvements and bug fixes, can be rolled out instantly and directly to Altium Subscription holders. Altium’s powerful cloud-based infrastructure supports this platform for continuous updates to customers. The Plug-In Manager within Altium Designer gives users full control over which elements of Altium Designer to install, and instant visibility into updates and installations. With its introduction of the new Altium Designer software delivery model the company has laid the foundations for continued growth.
