Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in Snappy Birthday our photography competition celebrating the first
birthday of Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on October 12th this year in association with Kodak.
This application pack contains all the details you need to know about entering the competition and
your chance to win some fantastic prizes. Including a Kodak EASYSHARE Digital Photo Frame and
the under 12's a Kodak EASYSHARE C183 Digital Camera – along with a number of family tickets to
see this years pantomime Dick Whittington at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
Maybe you’ve never taken a photo before, or maybe you’re a professional photographer. It doesn’t
matter to us! We’d love to see photos taken by you which you think celebrate the hugely successful
first year of the Waterside. We are looking for you to be as creative as you can be and for artistic
and interesting ways of depicting the theatre through photography.
To help you out we will be giving anyone interested in entering the competition access to Aylesbury
Waterside Theatre on an photography open day where you will have permission to photograph all
public areas of the building on Sat 23 April (10am-2pm) a second tour to include backstage will be
available on Sat 9 July (10am-2pm) you must book your place on this tour. Positions may be limited
and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis for details on booking please check our rules.
Please be aware that under usual circumstances photography inside the building is not permitted
therefore it may be best for you to take advantage of these days if you wish to take interior shots.


Read through the rules of the application.

If you would like to attend a Backstage Photography Tour of the Waterside on Sat 9 July
please email johncoughlan@theambassadors.com with an email entitled ‘Photography Tour’
telling us your contact details. (Please note if you are under the age of 16 you will need a
parent/guardian to attend with you and should tell us this in your email). An email will be
sent in return to confirm your attendance on the tour.

Take your photograph. This should be in digital format ideally a jpeg. Please note the format
and size of photograph required as found in the rules.

Once you are happy that your photograph complies with the rules, complete the application
form overleaf and return to us as soon as possible by email to
johncoughln@theambassadors.com entitled Snappy Birthday. The deadline for return of
the application form and photograph is Friday 12 August 2011

All entries which comply with our rules will be uploaded to our facebook site (Aylesbury
Waterside Theatre) in order for the public to vote for your photo. Remember to get your
friends and family to vote for you. The pictures with the most ‘likes’ will be shortlisted

Shortlisted winners will be contacted by Mid September to advise of next steps.
COMPETITION RULES



Entry into the Waterside Photographic Competition is Free and open to anyone visiting the
Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury
Photographs must be submitted in a digital format (ideally Jpeg) and be a minimum of
300dpi at A4 size. We will accept entries of a lower resolution but cannot guarantee the
quality for exhibition and may therefore need to remove entries from the shortlist should
they not meet the required standard.
Your photograph should include elements of Aylesbury Waterside Theatre and be suitable
for a family audience. Photographs should not make use of foul language or be considered
offensive in any way. Any photographs not deemed to be suitable by Aylesbury Waterside
Theatre will not be entered into the competition

Prizes will consist of: Over 12's category a Kodak EASYSHARE Digital Photo Frame, under
12's a Kodak EASYSHARE C183 Digital Camera. Winners will also receive a family ticket to
this years pantomime at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on a date TBC. This date is nontransferrable and terms and conditions apply. A family ticket consists of 4 tickets Max 2
adults. Runner up prizes for 3rd and 2nd prize in each category will consist of a family ticket
as above .

The winners may not transfer prize rights nor obtain substitutions or cash redemptions

All entries deemed to comply by the rules will be uploaded to the Aylesbury Waterside
Theatre facebook site by Friday 19 August 2011 when voting opens.
The 10 entries in each category receiving the most’ likes’ will be shortlisted. Closing date for
voting will be Friday 09 September 2011 any votes received after this date will not be
counted
Shortlisted entries will be displayed at the Waterside Theatre and winners will be judged by
a selection of independent judges
The judges decision is final and winners will be notified by Aylesbury Waterside Theatre
The winning image will be selected on originality and creativity.
No photographs will be returned
Aylesbury Waterside Theatre cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to your
entry which is outside of our control.
