IT-TECHNICAL CONSULTANT PAYCLASS 8 UCT LIBRARIES We invite applications from qualified applicants for this post in the Law Library. The ideal candidate will have an interest in working in a busy library environment, with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. The post ensures the stability and effectiveness of the technical infrastructure of the IT environment including Databases, Wireless network and network connectivity at Law Library computer and training laboratories. The position provides technical support services and computer laboratory administration to users and oversees the Laboratory, printing and photocopying facilities. You should be willing to work some evenings and weekends. Requirements: Grade 12 Any of the following qualifications will be considered: Certified Novell Administrator (CNA), A+, Microsoft Office use qualifications, electronics (NTC4) or similar recognised IT qualification One year experience in a computer laboratory and in IT support services Good understanding of networks, network infrastructure and wireless networks Strong customer service focus Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills and an eye for detail Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to work under pressure Good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work with users in a tactful, patient and courteous manner Good oral and written communication skills Experience of teaching and management of computer laboratories would be advantageous Responsibilities: Providing IT support services and technical advice to UCT Libraries, Law Faculty and student computer laboratories Technical support services and In-house IT infrastructure Systems and Network support Maintenance of Library computer and training Laboratories Project management support pertaining to UCT Libraries’ computer laboratories Communication and liaison with users regarding IT connectivity The post involves physical labour and the appointment is dependent on passing a medical examination. The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is negotiable between R200 452 and R235 811.
