No: Date of Issue: Issue: Page: SSR/CA/J 013 04/02/2012 5 1 of 3 JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Storekeeper - Catering RESPONSIBLE FOR: Store ACCOUNTABLE TO: Food Service Worker and Assistant Catering Manager JOB DESCRIPTION: 1.0 JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the daily operation and supervision of food storage areas, ensuring that laid down Policies and Procedure are followed in the buying, receiving and issuing of food products, and that the required records are accurately maintained. 2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 2.1 Ensures that hygiene and sanitation standards are maintained in warehouse, freezers and walk in chillers. Also checks temperature in freezers and walk, in chillers daily. 2.2 Maintain par stock levels for all goods and supplies. 2.3 Purchase groceries and meat products from vendors approved by Food Services Manager. 2.4 Responsible for inventory taking the main storage areas and accounts for discrepancies if any. 2.5 Supervises Assistant Storeman working under his direction. 2.6 To ensure that units are receiving goods and supplies requisitioned in a timely manner. 2.7 To perform the following documentation: a) Costing and checking of invoices and purchasing orders. b) Record receipts and issues on the stock record card. c) Record daily breakdown of products used. Conduct end of the month stock taking. f) Update bin cards for all food items. g) Prepare any information or statistical analysis required by the Food Service Director or the Accounts Officer. 2.8 Periodically check goods expiration dates, ensuring that the shelf life expectancy is within the required limits. 2.9 To ensure the security of all storage areas by adhering to the laid down security procedures. 2.10 To carry out any reasonable duties assigned by management. HOURS OF WORK: 48 hours weekly. 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. 4.0 REQUIREMENTS: 4.1 Qualifications or Relevant Experience: At least college level which is equivalent to 12th grade. 4.2 Personal Qualities: 4.2.1 Basic knowledge of mathematics, metric and imperial weights. 4.2.2 Extensive knowledge of quality inspection and spoilage signs of produce seafood, poultry and meats. 4.2.3 Extensive knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards. Experience: Two years previous experience in a similar position is desirable. 5.0 TERMS AND CONDITIONS: 5.1 N.B. As laid down by the Hospital Programme, and subject for amendment.
