p.19 2-5 Apply ***T*** Distillation Set Up 1) A homogeneous mixture of at least 2 different liquids that are miscible(mixed together). 2) The burner boils the liquids. Instead of a Bunsen burner, we could use a heating element or an oil bath or a melted wax bath. 3) The first liquid portion is distilling(bp: 96.2°C). We are collecting one of the liquids. 4) We do not want to collect the second liquid that has a higher bp in the same flask. 5) The second liquid portion is distilling (bp: 102.3°C). We are collecting the second liquid. 6) There are 3 liquids in the mixture, since there are 3 different bp. 1st bp: 96.2°C, 2nd bp:102.3°C, 3rd bp:108°C 7) A solid compound dissolved in the mixture. We could not see it because it was dissolved (well mixed) in the mixture. The solid has recrystallized.
