Presentations – PSYC 200.101
Presentations are one way for individuals to communicate information on a mass level. In
conferences such as, APA Convention, presentations are given in a variety of formats including,
posters, PowerPoint, panel discussions, and lectures. More often than not, presentations are
based on the current research endeavors and topics of importance to the psychological
community. For the purposes of this assignment, students will be required to put together a 10
minute PowerPoint presentation of topic they chose for their term paper. Students should take the
following into consideration while preparing their presentation:

Presentations are only 10 minutes, so what is the important information that should be
shared?
Slides should be professional.
Do not write everything on the slide then read from it. Identify key points on the slide,
but then verbally elaborate.
Make sure your slides are organized, don’t jump around from one topic to the next.
Be prepared to answer questions. Presentations are not only about what you want to
teach your audience, but also what your audience wants to learn from you.
You should have a handout to give to your audience. Handouts allow people to take
notes and see information that they may be obstructed from viewing during the
presentation. As it stands, there are 19 people in this class.
APA citation is still required. For brevity, always use et al. for three or more authors.
Proof-read your slides for obvious errors.
Practice at least once before presenting.
This assignment is worth 30pts and will be graded on the following aspects of your presentation:
