This is a fixed term contract up to five years. Job Title: Library Assistant (Periodicals and eResources) Department: Collections and Systems Services Grade: Library Assistant I Reports To: Sub-Librarian, Collections and Systems Services Job Objective: The successful candidate will play a key role in the purchase, maintenance and development of the library’s electronic and prints journal collections and will have responsibility for the day to day administration of the library’s journal and database management and discovery systems. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintain library electronic resources and print periodical subscriptions. Liaise with suppliers to resolve subscription receipt queries. Act as point of contact for queries from service desks and Subject Librarians Review and manage claims. Liaise with Periodicals Library Attendant ensuring the maintenance of the periodicals print collection. Participate in major collections projects including print journal and electronic journal review exercises. Assist in the administration of access to resources via the link resolvers and federated search tools. Participate in the work of the CSS team across a range of processes. Collate and maintain relevant statistics. Assisting, as appropriate, in day-to-day liaison with Library suppliers and services. Participate in Issue Desk rotas, as required. Variation of these duties and any other relevant duties as assigned by the Sub-Librarian, Collections and Systems Services and/ or the Director of Library Services. Experience and Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of 5 Grade Ds at Leaving Certificate level or equivalent. Relevant experience in a library environment and familiarity with database work is desirable. Candidates should be enthusiastic and be keen to work as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to function as part of a highly motivated team are essential. Salary Scale: € 22,924.00 to € 34,717.00* Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
