We are looking for an Engineering graduate to join our team at Siemens Rail Systems in Northampton, a part of the Mobility division, as a Graduate Engineer. Siemens Rail Systems Division provides expertise and technology for a full range of rail vehicles – from heavy rail to metros to trams and light-rail vehicles. In the UK, the division employs around 650 people and maintains over 350 Siemens passenger trains for First TransPennine Express, South West Trains, Heathrow Express, Greater Anglia, Northern Rail, London Midland and ScotRail, plus the future fleets Eurostar and Thameslink. The engineering function has five main functions of safety management, engineering support, maintenance optimisation, major repair management and configuration control, each supporting the daily running of the business. What do I need to qualify for this job? You will be graduating in, or have graduated in an accredited Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree, working towards a 2:2 or above We are looking for students who have studied ALevel Maths (or equivalent) You will demonstrate engineering skills and you will be expected to take a very hands-on approach and relate well to our customers on a daily basis To be flexible and adaptable with the ability to learn new skills quickly The ability to communicate to colleagues, customers and suppliers at all levels The ability to contribute positively in a team working environment, and have a positive, can-do attitude is essential What are my responsibilities? In addition to the general graduate responsibilities identified in the graduate handbook: Project management of work packages to support the safe maintenance of vehicles. Implement product and/or maintenance improvements using route cause analysis techniques. Component condition assessments and report writing to support optimisation of asset life cycle costs. Provide technical support to supply chain management with procurement discussions. What else do I need to know?
