Afghanistan – Takhar Province Humanitarian Operational Coordination Team (OCT) Meeting Taloqan city on 14 April 2015 Draft Minutes Participants: ACTED, AKDN, ANDMA, Concern Worldwide, DACAAR, IOM, Mission East, OCHA, WFP # Agenda item Key points discussed 1 2 Welcome & introductions Humanitarian situation updates (Protection, NFI/Shelter, Health and Nutrition, Food Security and Agriculture, WASH, Education). OCHA warmly welcomed participants and participants introduced themselves. Mission East: Mission East works in agriculture, health (hygiene promotion) and WASH. N/A WASH: Mission East implements 2 water supply projects in Warsaj district which will provide drinking water to 240 families. Mission East rehabilitates the Chumchuq Jar and Hayet-Bacha canal. Food security: Mission East established 25 orchards in Taloqan city and 25 greenhouses in Dasht-e-Qala district and distributed vegetable seeds to farmers. Mission East further participates in natural disasters assessments in its working areas. DACAAR: Compared to 2014, DACAAR’s projects have decreased. In 2015, DACAAR plans to implement the following activities: construction of 30 deep wells in Rustaq district, construction of 20 deep wells in Taloqan district, distribution of 500 water filters in Chahab district, distribution of 500 water filters in Darqad district. Decisions Action point (s) ACTED: ACTED participates actively in natural disaster assessments. ACTED’s regional coordinator informed that ACTED acts as the Shelter Cluster focal point for Takhar province and will facilitate the Takhar Shelter WG meeting, done in close coordination with OCHA. IOM: IOM actively participates in natural disaster assessments. IOM has 300 blanket models, 300 family kit models and 182 solars in its Takhar stocks. WFP: WFP actively participates in natural assessments and provides food items for natural disaster affected families for caseloads larger than 20 families. Concern Worldwide: In addition to development projects, CWW implements humanitarian projects such as shelter construction (2014). In 2015 CWW plans to spend U$ 67,000 on projection wall construction through a cash for work project in the districts of Chal, Namakab and Rustaq. CWW actively participates in naturals disasters assessments and response. CWW has NFIs in stock. AKDN: Actively participates in assessments in its working districts. D Discussion about natural disasters risk locations which were assessed by the Amu River Basin Department and referred to ANDMA and the provincial humanitarian team. The need is to provide funds to operate earth moving machinery and to construct ANDMA Takhar shared the assessment reports provided by the Amu River Basin Department of Takhar province.
