INVITATION TO THE
MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IN MUREŞ COUNTY
During the 27-29th of July, 2007
SIGHIŞOARA – MEDIEVAL CAPITAL OF ROMANIA
Among all Romanian cities, Sighişoara remains deep in the mind and soul of those
who passed at least once on the paved narrow street of the Medieval Burg, included in the
UNESCO World Heritage.
For 15 years, during the last weekend in July, reality and fantasy, modern and medieval
interweave, taking the visitors of Sighişoara into the forgotten world of the Middle Ages.
In 2007 we celebrate this event in July, from the 27th – 29th. This period becomes a
reference point in the cultural life of the city.
The Medieval Art Festival strengthens Sighişoara’s vocation for preserving cultural
traditions, also the capacity of the town to amplify the Transylvanian artistic life. This event
formed a valuable segment of visitors, both from Romania and all around the world.
Beside the colourful cultural programme, the Festival also has a promoting role. It
promotes the national heritage and tries to make the population aware of the value and
importance of the architectural and cultural patrimony.
During the Festival, more than 30.000 visitors travel to Sighişoara to enjoy the
medieval atmosphere in this authentic landscape, drawn by the charm of the Medieval
Citadel.
We are happy to find that Sighişoara has so many friends!
The Medieval Art Festival in Sighişoara is the festival of the actors, the festival of
the streets and towers, of the churches and squares, but first of all the feast of people!
