Test dates will be announced at least one week in advance. Missed tests can only be made up before the next class meeting. All tests will be counted, which means no test scores dropped. Quizzes: Daily quizzes can be given at the beginning or the end of class. Quiz dates will not be announced in advance. Missed quizzes cannot be made up. At least one quiz grade will be dropped at the end of the semester. Final examination: A final exam (150 points) covering the entire course will be given at the end of the semester. Scoring: Tests Quizzes Final Total 300 points 50 points 150 points 500 points Grade A B C D 90% - 450 points 80% - 400 points 70% - 350 points 60% - 300 points Homework: Homework will be assigned every day and will be due at the beginning of the next class. Homework does not count toward the grade. Attendance: Each student is required to attend every class meeting on time. Students absent for the equivalent of 2 weeks (6 classes) may be dropped from the course. Students are responsible for all work missed due to an absence. Students are expected to refrain from smoking, eating, drinking or other inappropriate behavior in class. Calculators: It is assumed that the student is working with a basic scientific calculator.
