Educational goals and characteristics
This is a combined clinical and research fellowship. The clinical goals are to provide a
program of both primary and revision joint arthroplasty using current techniques. These will
include both impaction allografting and structural allografting, and there will be a special
focus of expertise in total hip and total knee computer navigation.
The fellow is expected to be involved in post-operative management and long-term follow
up evaluation of patients, and participation in outpatient clinics and weekly Orthopaedic
Grand Rounds will be expected.
The research aspect of the fellowship will encompass projects in clinical navigation as well
as a basic science research project.
Requirements
All candidates should be of senior registrar or consultant status. They should be eligible for
registration with the Queensland Medical Board and be suitable for full insurance coverage in
Australia and the State of Queensland. Applicants must also be fluent in spoken and written
English and ideally be computer literate.
