Meet our National Executive Committee 2016 National President National Vice-President Andrew Rimington (Victoria) Wanda Hayes (Queensland) Andrew has over 25 years’ experience working for both Commonwealth and State governments in senior management roles in the employment, education & training (EET) program delivery and policy areas. Andrew also managed a University Careers Advisory service, had a senior management role with a private training provider, as well as a consulting and private practice working primarily in career transition and rehabilitation. Andrew has recently reactivated his private practice with a focus on career coaching and workforce development, after a successful 12 years as Senior Policy Manager with the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI). Andrew has been involved in many committees, reference groups, Industry Training Advisory Boards as well as Ministerial appointments to advisory boards in employment and education. He is also currently Director of the Community Services & Health Industry Skills Council. Wanda has a strong and abiding commitment to the growth of the career development profession, acknowledging that CDAA plays a central and critical role. She previously served on the NEC from 20092012, initiating the development of CDAA’s Excellence Framework and Awards program as well as other membership innovations to promote professionalism and facilitate resource and information sharing within the profession. Wanda’s background includes career development roles in secondary schools (QLD Department of Education), community services (National Career Advice phone line), consulting and corporate HR (various public and private sector clients). She is currently working part time in a careers service at a university (USC), while also continuing to operate her own private practice, established in 2000. This breadth of experience across the range of sectors of career development has given her a uniquely wide-ranging understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with working in the field of career development in all its different guises. Meet our National Executive Committee 2016 National Treasurer Marjolein Bervoets (Victoria) Marjolein is the founder and Managing Director of Career Management Group Pty Ltd. Passionate about developing employees’ awareness and skills to manage their own careers, Marjolein and her team have worked with thousands of employees affected by redundancy in addition to providing career strategy, career decision, career empowerment programs and executive mentoring and coaching services. Her background prior to creating her own business in 2001 was in senior executive Finance and Leadership roles; primarily engaged in organisational mergers, downsizing, outsourcing and restructures. Marjolein was also a Director at DBM for two years. Marjolein is also a Board Member of four other organisation; three of which she is chairing. On a personal note, she rides a motorbike for fun, loves snow skiing and lives in Melbourne. National Secretary Jo Shambler (Queensland) Jo has been a member of CDAA since June 2005. She has been serving on the NEC since 2011 and has taken on the role of National Secretary in May 2013. She has been a member of the Queensland Committee, where she undertook the roles of Vice President and General Committee Member. She has worked in the Queensland Government for many years, predominantly in the area of Human Resource Management (generalist and Organisational Development) but also in areas as diverse as Business Improvement and Litigation Management. Jo is the founder and Director of Power Careers and Consulting, a small private practice specialising in career coaching, outplacement, corporate training and RTO participant course coaching, which she set up in 2007. She holds a Master of Career Development and a Bachelor of Education (Adult and Workplace Education). She is passionate about career development and raising its profile as a key to helping individuals achieve their full potential. Meet our National Executive Committee 2016 General Committee Member Allan Moyle (Victoria) Allan works in private practice and is passionate about career development as a concept and promotes this extensively through the ongoing development of his clients and members of the CDAA. Allan has well over twenty years’ experience in providing career development support to individuals and diverse occupational groups. Today Allan works on a range of activities including career development/transition for adult workers, training, outplacement, classification reviews and documentation for clients in Government, Private and Education sectors. Allan has been a Professional member of the CDAA since 1997 and has supported the Victorian Commit- tee for some years being involved in the planning of events such as the CDAA presence at Career Expos. In 2012, Allan was elected Victorian Vice President and then became Victorian President for 2013 and 2014. General Committee Member Helen Strickland (South Australia) Helen is the founder of Strickland Solutions, a business which provides a range of business and career management consulting services. She has strong management and leadership experience in education, career development, employment, regional development and community organisations. Helen has extensive Board experience in regional health, education, training and regional development settings, and currently in the banking industry. She has leadership experience in schools, including as a principal in primary and secondary school settings. Prior to creating her own business Helen initiated and managed the Career Development Centre in Mount Gambier in 2006, which has become the model for community based career development in South Australia. She is particularly interested in building community understanding and commitment to a culture of career development, with a broad perspective of the need to engage and support all age groups in man- aging their career, so that they can manage multiple career transitions. Meet our National Executive Committee 2016 General Committee Member Carolyn Alchin (Queensland) General Committee Member Rebecca Fraser (Victoria) Carolyn Alchin is a Career Development Professional, experienced business person, and qualified teacher. She is a practiced presenter, focussing her resources and development on engaging diverse populations in career development exploration and understanding. Rebecca’s career in this sector has developed from early roles in project & change management. The skills developed allow her to design and facilitate programs to support business strategy, organisation-al planning and personnel development. She has more than 10 years’ experience across Career Development, Industry and Youth Education. A passionate communicator, Rebecca facilitates workshops for organisations, including City of Melbourne, GM Holden and CPA Australia, across all aspects of career growth, leadership, team success, change, resilience and career development. Her corporate experience and ongoing engagement allows her to assist individuals and organisations pre/post redundancy, during transition and for career development. Carolyn, who is employed at the University of Southern Queensland, now focuses her learning and research on supporting individuals and groups to manage and build their career potential through employability and self-efficacy. She is passionate about community engagement and connecting with industry, and community groups. She is currently working as a Career Development Practitioner at the University of Southern Queensland. As an industry specialist, Rebecca works extensively with leading industry associations driving professionalism and consumer awareness As the CDAA VIC Divisional President, Rebecca drives understanding of career management and alignment to industry standards. .
