Course Objectives:
This laboratory section is meant to be a supplement to your Bio 105 lecture material. You will explore
concepts being taught in lecture through experimentation and other various lab exercises.
Attendance Policy:
Attendance is mandatory—do not expect to pass a lab if you do not attend. In the event of an excused
absence (established PRIOR to missing a lab); make-ups may be made in a different lab section with
approval of the lab instructor whose lab you wish to attend to make-up a missed lab. It is only possible to
make up a lab during the same week of the missed lab!
Notify the instructor of the lab you will miss BEFORE you miss the lab. Failure to do this will result in a
10-point deduction in your lab grade, AND make you ineligible to earn any quiz, worksheet or lab report
points available for that day.
Materials needed for labs:
Lab Manual and 3-ring binder for manual
15 cm ruler
Calculator
Pencils, pens, and erasers
Note book paper
Grading Policy:
Grades will be based upon 10 assignments, each is worth 10 points. These 100 points are to count toward
10% of your final bio 105 grade; therefore, the grading scale used will be the one provided by Dr. Kallas (see
your lecture syllabus). No individual letter grade will be given for laboratory. The assignments will be a mix
of lab reports, quizzes, and other exercises to be described later. Work will be a hybrid of both individual
and group efforts.
