Press Release 25th June 2007 Truro Cathedral Choir Summer Gala Concert Wednesday 11th July, 7:30pm An unmissable concert of English Choral Music Music lovers are in for a real treat on Wednesday 11th July when the Choir of Truro Cathedral perform a thrilling programme of beautiful choral music. The programme includes works by Michael Tippett, William Byrd, Patrick Gowers, William Walton and Herbert Howells as well as a Cornish piece, ‘Pader an Arleth’ by local composer and school teacher, Russell Pascoe. There will also be two organ solos played by Christopher Gray, the Cathedral's Assistant Organist. Robert Sharpe, Director of Music, said, "We are deliberately including a number of "classics" in our end-of-year programme this year, as the concert has a tremendous feeling of rounding off the year's work. All the pieces are attractive to listen to, and the concert will be over by around 9.00pm. You will be assured of a memorable evening of uplifting music." Under the direction of Robert Sharpe the choir has gone from strength to strength since his appointment in 2002; hugely enriching the daily music of the Cathedral as well as performing in regular concerts and broadcasting for BBC radio and television.
