Truro Cathedral Choir Summer Gala Concert
Wednesday 11th July, 7:30pm
An unmissable concert of English Choral Music
Music lovers are in for a real treat on Wednesday 11th July when the Choir
of Truro Cathedral perform a thrilling programme of beautiful choral music.
The programme includes works by Michael Tippett, William Byrd, Patrick
Gowers, William Walton and Herbert Howells as well as a Cornish piece,
‘Pader an Arleth’ by local composer and school teacher, Russell Pascoe.
There will also be two organ solos played by Christopher Gray, the
Cathedral's Assistant Organist.
Robert Sharpe, Director of Music, said, "We are deliberately including a
number of "classics" in our end-of-year programme this year, as the
concert has a tremendous feeling of rounding off the year's work. All the
pieces are attractive to listen to, and the concert will be over by around
9.00pm. You will be assured of a memorable evening of uplifting music."
Under the direction of Robert Sharpe the choir has gone from strength to
strength since his appointment in 2002; hugely enriching the daily music of
the Cathedral as well as performing in regular concerts and broadcasting
for BBC radio and television.
Tickets: £10 from Hall For Cornwall or available on the door
