PRESS RELEASE 29 February 2008 Songs of Praise coming to Truro Cathedral The ever-popular BBC1 programme Songs of Praise, now in its 47th year, is coming to Cornwall in May. Ticket Application forms for the general public are now available. Truro Cathedral is going to host the flagship religious broadcast programme on Sunday 11th and Monday 12th May this year, to record two programmes, one that will be broadcast on 29th June 2008 and the other on 1st February 2009. The programme, which regularly attracts 4m viewers, is the longest running religious television programme in the world. Canon Perran Gay, Precentor and Head of Worship, is looking forward to the event, “It is a number of years since the programme last came from the Cathedral and we are delighted to host it this year. We would advise that if people would like to come, they need to apply for tickets as soon as possible.” People wishing to come to the broadcast will need to commit to coming to both days in May, the 11th and the 12th. To obtain your free tickets people will need to pick up an application form from the Cathedral or the Cathedral Office. The completed application form then needs to be returned to the BBC in Manchester before Friday 28th March. Because of the likely high demand, tickets cannot be guaranteed.
