LONDON
The National Gallery Company Ltd awards license to Scoop Designs
to bring food gifts to selected UK retail
The National Gallery Company Ltd has announced Scoop Designs Ltd, as the latest licensee in the National Gallery
programme. Scoop Designs will work with the National Gallery Company to supply unique food and beverage gifts.
The range, an extension of the National Gallery Company’s popular Delicious Art™ sub-brand, will be launched at
selected retail outlets in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The first phase of the agreement focuses on a number of composite food gifts for the year-round market. These will
include high quality foods: chocolate, teas, jams and preserves combined with beautifully designed ceramics, cutlery
and gifts in a variety of special containers. For example a cheese and chutney set would also include a dome cover,
board and cheese knives, while a tea-based gift would include china cups and saucers. These wonderful gifts will be
illustrated with famous images from the National Gallery’s vast collection. An expanded range will launch in 2016.
The food and beverage gifts will be widely available through selected UK multiple retailers, department stores,
garden centres and independents, as well as through the National Gallery’s onsite and online shops. The images
used on the packaging will include works by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder
amongst others.
Scoop Designs Ltd engages in the design and development of packaged gifts for special occasions, sourcing and
supplying products from a network of high-end food suppliers and offering bespoke packaging. Scoop Designs
operates as a subsidiary of International Greetings plc, a major name in gift packaging and greetings and stationery.
This is the latest licence announcement following the launch in 2014 by the National Gallery Company Ltd of a
comprehensive, international licensing programme featuring the National Gallery’s collection of some of the greatest
paintings in the world. Independent licensing agency JELC has been appointed to develop the campaign with the
National Gallery Company Ltd. Early signings to the programme include Danilo, producing National Gallery
calendars and diaries, DMC, with a range of needlecraft kits, iGadgitz producing National Gallery e-reader, tablet
and phone cases, and SEB UK LTD with a comprehensive selection of linen-textured flat-packed box prints.
Judith Mather, Buying and Merchandise Director, the National Gallery Company, says, “The success of Delicious
Art™ has clearly indicated the massive potential of high quality food-based gifts associated with the National Gallery
brand. We are delighted to be working with Scoop, a respected design and development group, on extending the
reach and scale of this range.”
