From the Pastor
Happy New Year! I hope this letter finds
you excited and eager for a new year. Regardless if
you’re a goal setter or not, this time of the year
forces us to do some evaluating. It’s a proper time to
ask some important questions. Questions like: How
are you doing? How’s your relationship with God?
How is your relationship with your spouse, children,
grandchildren, co-workers, friends, neighbors and
fellow church members? How are you doing in your
prayer life? What have you meant to get around to
that you haven’t yet? And perhaps the most
important question, who or what are you living for?
As Christians and children of God we
belong to Jesus. The Bible tells us Jesus Christ is
Lord! His Lordship should directly impact all that
we are, all that we have, and all that we do. Lordship
is ownership. We “get to” live under God’s control
and authority. It is not an oppressive lifestyle, but a
liberating lifestyle.
The Lordship of Jesus simplifies my life
and decisions. Because He is my Lord, my purpose
in life is to please Him and obey Him. In fact, the
best advice I could possibly give you for not only the
year 2010, but for the rest of your life, comes straight
from the Bible. It’s the best advice ever given in the
whole world. In John’s gospel, chapter 2, Mary the
mother of Jesus, told the servants at the wedding in
Canaan when the wine ran out. Listen to Jesus,
whatever He tells you to do, do it! That’s the best
advice ever given. Whatever Jesus asks of you, do it.
As you move into a new year there will be
all sorts of new adventures, opportunities, obstacles
and even barriers. But just remember no matter what
joys you encounter or trials you experience, Jesus
Christ is Lord! Therefore our main objective, our
top priority is to please Him and simply do whatever
He says.
So my prayer and hope for you this year and
all life through is find out what Jesus wants you to do
and say, “Yes Lord!”
