Egyptian Wax Museum Dear Parents, This letter is to inform you of an upcoming project. Your student will be participating in the Egyptian Wax Museum. This is a fun way to do a research report on a historical or mythological figure from Ancient Egypt. Students will be responsible for a written report, costumes, and an oral report given as though they were that character. Following are dates and responsibilities for this project: Your child’s Egyptian Wax Museum character is: ____________________________________________ Research Notes Due Friday, Sept. 13 Costume Plan/Prop Due Friday, Sept. 20 Written Report Due Friday, Sept. 27 Oral Report Sheet Due Tuesday, Oct. 1 Wax Museum Friday, Oct. 5 Project Details: 1. Research/Notes – students will need to fill in a research worksheet that will help them prepare for their report. Students will also need to bring in 3 references (1 book minimum, others may be internet—please print out one page as proof of source). Each resource is worth 10 points. 2. Costume Plan/Prop – students will need to have created a costume plan of what they are going to wear for the Wax Museum event. They will also need a prop (mask, staff, etc). This plan will have to be approved by the teacher. This should give parents enough time to be aware of costuming with a few weeks to collect, create materials. This is worth 25 points. 3. Written report due – students will be turning in their written report. This must include all information on the rubric. This will be considered like a language arts assignment and will be graded on conventions, organization, and ideas. This is worth 50 points. 4. Oral Report Sheet – this “cheat sheet” will help students in their oral presentations. Students should have this information memorized and be prepared to present the following day. This is worth 20 pts. 5. Wax Museum – “tourists” will be invited to attend our presentations at 9:30. Students will need to be fully dressed in costume by 9:15am. The Wax Museum will close at 11:30am. Students will be given a participation grade for this event (excellent behavior is expected). This is worth 25 points. 6.
