You’re invited to Mrs. Hower’s and Mrs. Deitrich’s Famous Pennsylvanians Wax Museum! Thursday, May 30, 2013 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Cafeteria Dear Parents, May 1, 2013 You are invited to come and visit our Wax Museum of Famous Pennsylvanians right here at Marlborough School on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Each student will need a costume or outfit depicting the famous Pennsylvanian they have chosen and are researching. On Thursday, May 30, students should bring their costume/outfit, appropriate props, etc. to school so that they can change into it before the event. They should not come to school dressed in their outfit. Creating costumes can be challenging… Be creative. Be resourceful. Go through your closets, borrow items from people (many 4th graders have done this before), etc. Another tip we can give is to look in thrift shops or the Good Will store. We do not expect you to have to buy anything, especially anything that would cost a lot of money. You’d be surprised what you can come up with when asking around and digging through closets! You have to get creative! And just think; now your child will have a Halloween costume for the fall as well! Your child will also need to make a poster to have standing up next to them at the Wax Museum. We will be making these posters in school. I will provide one piece of poster board to your child. They will be required to bring in 3 pictures of their famous person for this poster. See the attached sheet for very specific poster requirements. At the Wax Museum, parents will browse around the “statues” and each statue will “come to life” as they tell you about themselves: who they are, why they are important or famous, some of their major accomplishments, etc. Then you can move on to another statue. Please feel free to invite grandparents, etc, and to videotape or take photos. Thank you very much for your support and assistance to your daughters and sons in this project. We hope you will enjoy this event and learn a LOT about the famous Pennsylvanians who have contributed a great deal to our world over the years. Previous years’ Wax Museums have been a big hit! If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email me. Thank you. ~ Nikki Hower
