Press Presse Prensa Siemens Business Services For the Business and Trade Press Munich, 27 April 2004 Siemens Business Services to look after 18,000 PC workstations for Audi in Germany Siemens Business Services is now responsible for 18,000 PC workstations for Audi at two German sites, as well as for procuring new computers and disposing of legacy systems. The Siemens Group has been awarded a contract to this effect by AUDI AG. The automobile manufacturer is looking to cut its IT costs and make them more transparent by introducing a standard monthly flat rate for each PC for which support is provided. Siemens Business Services will handle all services related to PC workstations at the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm sites, providing support for the entire product lifecycle – from preliminary consulting services to hardware and software procurement and installation, right through to maintenance and final disposal. One new feature of this service is the "price-per-seat model". In future, only a monthly flat-rate service charge will be levied for each PC workstation. This will cover workstation and procurement management, as well as validation, installation, distribution and maintenance for both hardware and software, disposal of legacy systems and a range of basic services, such as support for the asset database. Laborintensive billing for every individual service for every individual workstation is thus no longer necessary. "This concept significantly reduces costs within defined service levels," comments Neil Allpress, head of global business with product-support services at the Siemens subsidiary. 1/2 Siemens AG Corporate Communications 80312 Munich Information Number: SBS 270404.28e Press Office Siemens Business Services Joern Roggenbuck 81730 Munich Tel.: +49-89 636-43734; Fax: -42162 E-mail: joern.roggenbuck@siemens.com Siemens Business Services is an internationally leading IT service provider.
