Siemens' Wind Power division will expand its team at the university’s Science and Business Park (KUSBP), a centre dedicated to leading edge R & D for wind power converter technology. Made up of specialist engineers, researchers and support staff, the team is primarily responsible for developing new power converters and related technologies for large onshore and offshore wind turbines. What are my responsibilities? What do I need to qualify for this job? In this role the successful applicant will be part of the research and development team supporting the power converter, digital control hardware and real time embedded control software used in wind turbines. This role is initially based at Keele and will provide technical support for both R&D and Projects. Your training will include working on the following tasks: You must be studying towards, or have completed an Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree with a minimum of a 2:2. You will be result and quality-oriented with a strong practical orientation, and excellent organization skills. Any relevant work experience to compliment your application would be desirable. Support of PCB manufacturing and testing Development testing of control electronics and software Design of control and power hardware Development and deployment of real time control software Research into new control hardware and software solutions Capturing and documentation of detailed requirements Liaison with suppliers Validation of components/equipment in laboratory/wind turbines After sales support of power converter products. What else do I need to know? This role will require travel around the UK so you will need to be flexible in regards to travel.
