-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jacob Olivius Raphael was born in Copenhagen in about 1812 and was a
member of the Lutheran church.1 He was married in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1839, to
Wilhelmine Jacobine Christiansen, who was born in Copenhagen, in about 1820 and
was a member of the Lutheran church.2
They arrived in Frederiksted in April 1840 and he was at the local hospital from
1840 to 1843. He moved to St. John in 1843.
In October 1846, the he and his wife were resident at estate Abrams Fancy on St.
John, where he was a Surgeon to the St. John's Troops, but their daughter M. O. F.
Raphael was not with them.3 In 1849, Wilhelmine J. Raphael, born Christiansen, left for
Copenhagen, where she was in 1850, living at 218 & 19a Fiolstræde, with her maid,
Anne Jane Pickering, aged 21, born on Tortola.4 In 1850, he was without his family at
estate L'Esperance on St. John, which he owned.5
In 1855, he was at estate La Grange, West End Quarter. In 1857, the family was
living at 52 & 53ab King Street, Frederiksted, which belonged to Mr. MacCaul.6 In
1860, he was living without his family at 35 & 36 King's Street, Frederiksted, a property
owned by P. W. Schousboe.7 In 1870, he was living with his wife and son at 32 & 33
King Street, a property which he owned.8

She died in Frederiksted on 17 June 1878 and was buried by the Frederiksted
Lutheran Church graveyard.9 He died in Frederiksted on 8 February 1892 of heart
disease.10

1. Olivia Maria Frederikke Raphael was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in
about 1839 and baptized in the Lutheran Church.11
In 1857, she was living with her brother and parents at 53 & 53ab King's Street,
Frederiksted.12
She was married on 17 June 1858 in the Frederiksted Danish Lutheran Church to
Otto Hermann Schousboe, who was born in about 1834 and was a member of the
Lutheran Church.13
In 1864, they were divorced.14
On 23 July 1864, with permission of a Royal Letter, dated, 22 July 1864, she was
married by the Frederiksted Danish Lutheran Pastor, at home, to Philip Peder
Rosenstand, who was born in about about 1831 and was a member of the Lutheran
Church.15 In 1864, he was the first Government Secretary in Christiansted.16
2. Frederik Vilhelm Wulff Raphael17 was born in Helsingør, Denmark in about
1852 and was baptized in the Lutheran Church.18 In 1857, he was living with his sister
and parents at 52 & 53ab King Street, Frederiksted.19 By 1870, he had converted to the
Catholic Church, and at this time he was living with his parents at 32 & 33 King's Street,
Frederiksted.20 In 1876, he returned to St. Croix.21 In 1880, he was married to Lila,
who was born in America in about 1859 and was a member of the Roman Catholic
Church and who arrived in St. Croix in 1875.22 He married Mary Elisa Ellen
Masterson, daughter of Edward Masterson, prior to December 1886.23 In 1880, he
owned estates Mount Pleasant and Solitude in King's Quarter.24 In 1880, he also owned

estate Slob in King's Quarter, where the family was living.25 In addition, he also owned
estate Barren Spot in King's Quarter.26 Frederik died on 10 November 1896.27

------------------------------Louisa Wilhelmine O. Raphael, born in about 1848 and baptized in the Lutheran
Church, in 1868, was living in Christiansted, and had her daughter (father not given),
Alma Olivia, who was born on 2 January 1868, baptized in the Christiansted Lutheran
Church on 31 May 1868.30
There is a "Louisa Raphiel" listed in the 1870 census, living at 5A Fisher Street,
Christiansted, born in about 1844, Lutheran church member, unmarried, and maybe with
her mother, Adelaide George.
In 1901, a Wilhelmine Raphael, born on St. Croix, aged 56 (c1845) and baptized
in the Lutheran Church, who was unmarried and a seamstress by profession was living at
14 Hill Street, Christiansted.
