John Johnson, a medical doctor, was living alone, in 1784, at John Meyer’s
estate at 30 King’s Quarter.6
--------------------Jane Johnson, who was born on St. Eustatius in about 1761 and was a member of
the Moravian Church had a relationship in about 1792 with an unknown Heyliger.7
In October 1841, she was living with her daughter, Mary Blake Heyliger, at 50ab
Company Street, Christiansted. 8
----------------[Emelia9, Emelie10] Melia Johnson was born on St. Croix in about 1782 and was
a member of the Anglican Church.11
She received a Freedom Certificate on 24 December 1798 from Governor
Lindemann. 12
In about 1799, she had a relationship with an unknown Crean.13
In about 1803, she had a relationship with an unknown Williams. 14
Between about 1806 and 1814, she had a relationship with an unknown
Reynolds.15
In 1816, she was living at 44 Company Street, Christiansted, free, classified as
black, and employed as the Housekeeper for J. Reynolds. 16
In 1831, she was registered as having had her freedom purchased, was 50 years of
age [1781], was baptized in the Anglican Church, but not confirmed, was born on St.
Croix, classified as a mustice, and was resident in Christiansted.17
In October 1841, she was living with her daughter, Mary Reynolds, at 15 Queen’s
Street, Christiansted, unmarried, and employed as a Seamstress.18

John Johnson was married on 30 June 1787 at Mr. Meyer's residence on St.
Croix by the Anglican Minister to Sarah Gibbes.19
By 1801, he was a medical doctor.20
On 20 December 1804, he was buried in the graveyard at estate Blessing, King’s
Quarter, the property of John Meyer. 21

-----------------Christopher Johnson was born on St. Christopher in about 1760. 30
He was a Medical Doctor by 1800.31
He was married on 12 January 1800 at the house of John Meyer by the
Christiansted Anglican Priest to Margaretha Meyer. 32
In 1816, he was serving as a medical assistant to Dr. William Lytton, and he had
been doing so since about 1786 without any official medical training or authorization
from Copenhagen, but while living at estate Blessing, on St. Croix, served about 3500
blacks in the countryside.33
In 1822, he and his family were living at estate Blessing, 30 King’s Quarter, no.

1. John Meyer Johnson was born on St. Croix35 on 28 March 1802 and was
baptized on 8 May 1802 at the home of John Meyer, by the Priest of the Christiansted
Anglican Church.36
He was married in the Anglican Church on 1 June 1824, to Mary Roebuck,37
who was born on 4 December 1805 and baptized in the Christiansted Anglican Church,
26 December 1805. 38
On 6 May 1835, he was granted his Burgher Certificate.39
In October 1841, they were living at his estate, Blessing, King’s Quarter, St.
Croix, where he was an owner and planter, as well as a Private in the King’s Life
Guard.40
In October 1846, he and his family were living at his property at 22/23 Market
Street, Christiansted, married, employed as a Merchant and a Sergeant in the King’s Life
Squadron.41

On 27 July 1848, he served as a guarantor at the Christiansted Anglican Church at
the marriage of Mary Amelia Hall, aged 38, to Charles Ellis.42 She had formerly lived in
his household.
In May 1850, he was living with his wife and family at his property at 22/23
Market Street, Christiansted, married and employed as a Merchant. 43

Christiansted Anglican Church on 27 January 1807.46

On 24 July 1849, she, aged 24, was married in the Christiansted Anglican Church
to John Dennis, who was from Norfolk County, England. Guarantors of the marriage
were J. M. Johnson and Christopher Johnson, M.D.53
In May 1850, they were living with her parents and siblings at 22/23 Market
Street, Christiansted, married and he was employed as a Clerk. 54
