Bundling Education and Medical Appointments A basic part of JoslinCare is that new patient appointments are scheduled with both a physician and an educator on the same day. Have the scheduler present this as “The Joslin Difference.” This approach allows the physician to focus on medical issues knowing the educator will follow with clarification of the treatment plan and education in the skills to carry out the plan. Then measure the impact of this strategy: Satisfaction survey at the end of the visit Monthly report data on educator productivity A1C improvement In Boston this bundling made a big difference in patient satisfaction. If you want help designing this as a CQI project, contact your Boston site coordinator.
