Survey Administration Assistant Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) Faculty of Commerce The Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU), is appointed to carry out the National Income Dynamics Study (NIDS) on behalf of The Presidency. NIDS finds and interviews about 40000 individuals as they move around the country. For this exciting project, we now require two talented individuals to join the team as Survey Assistants on a permanent basis. The successful candidates will be stationed in Cape Town at the University of Cape Town and travel around the country may be required (up to three weeks). Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent Proficiency in English and the ability to read, write and speak one or more of isiZulu, siSwati, Ndebele, Xitsonga, Sepedi or Tshivenda o Desirable combinations of languages in a candidate are isiZulu / siSwati / Ndebele or Tshivenda / Sepedi / Xitsonga. Minimum of 6 months fieldwork experience on household and/or social surveys Working knowledge of quality control processes within household and/or social surveys Willingness to spend time away from Cape Town for several days at a time Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel and email) Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure Ability to work as part of a team Possession of a valid driver’s license would be an advantage Responsibilities: Assist in quality control of questionnaires in field and telephonically Assist with respondent tracking and monitoring Assist with field team mentoring during training Maintain the consent form logging and archiving system Maintenance of equipment inventory system Assist with general administration where necessary The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R149 947 and 176 479.
