3. informing the student body of the team’s progress during morning announcements.
4. Determining away game apparel (spirit wear).
- Coaches will communicate with parents, if necessary, via email. Parents are expected to subscribe to
highschoolsports.net for any game postponements or cancellations. Parents will also be required to
attend a pre-season meeting tbd.
- Practices will be held Monday – Saturday either in the gym or the annex. There will be two Sunday
practices: December 26th and January 2nd for Varsity and JV players. There will be no practice on Dec

- Players will attend Strength and Conditioning on most Mon., Wed., and Fridays. Attendance is

for all updated information throughout the season.
- The team will travel together to all away games, there will be no exceptions.
- The use of cell phones is not permitted at any time during basketball. That includes practices, games,
and bus rides. If a player needs to call a parent/guardian, she should make that call before getting on
the bus, or before the start of a practice or game.
Eligibility
- Paperwork: ALL Sports Participation paperwork must be turned in to the school nurse for approval at
least TWO weeks prior to the first practice/tryout day. If your paperwork has not been approved by
the school nurse you will not be permitted to participate in practices or contests.
- Every athlete must have participated in a minimum of 6 practice days prior to the first scrimmage or
game, unless she has participated in a state championship contest in the preceding season.
- An athlete must be in school by 10:30am in order to participate in a practice or contest that afternoon.
There are NO exceptions to this!
- An athlete who is unable to participate in Physical Education class due to an injury, illness or
unpreparedness will not be permitted to participate in a practice or contest that day.
Attendance/Tardiness
-
-
-
Players need to be at every practice and game. Exceptions include: illness resulting in absence from
school, injury, extenuating family circumstances, or religious/academic reasons.
* If a Varsity/JV player misses a practice for an unexcused reason, she will sit out the next game.
*If a Varsity/JV player misses a game for an unexcused reason, she will sit out 2 entire games.
There is a 15-min rule for all practices. Players MUST be in the gym 15 minutes before every practice.
This allows them to physically and mentally prepare for practice. WE do not tolerate tardiness,
however a player who requires after -school academic help must contact their coach prior to practice.
Players will be admitted to practice after a 10 min warm-up period.
Practice will start promptly at scheduled time.
Players must be ready immediately after school for away games by 3:05 or within 10 minutes of early
dismissal.
For late practices and games, attendance at HOMEWORK CLUB (located in the library) is mandatory!
Any music that will be used for practices and/or games MUST be approved by the Varsity coach. Lyrics
must be included with song name and performer.
* Please note that it is the player’s responsibility to inform their coach personally of absence or tardiness to
a practice or game, with as much notice as possible.
Practice
- Hustle and hard work; nothing less than 100% for the entire practice.
- Mutual respect between coach and players.
- Conditioning: players should expect a lot of cross-training sessions throughout the season. Aside from
asthma or injury, everyone is expected to complete all of the strength and conditioning sessions.
- Lots of information will be presented in practice: plays, defenses, press and press breakers. It is
important that players pay close attention so they are prepared for games.
Playing Time is not guaranteed.
Some players will get more playing time than others and will depend on the following:
- Ability and athleticism – as judged and evaluated by coaching staff
- Court chemistry and position needs – there will be times when more forwards may be needed and
likewise times we need more ball-handlers on the court.
- Work ethic and attentiveness: those who work hard and learn in practice will be rewarded with playing
time in games.
- Attitude: We expect a positive attitude towards all players (including those on the opposing team),
coaches, and referees. Anything less than that will not be tolerated and will result in less playing time.
- Commitment and dedication – those willing to put in the extra time and effort will be rewarded, as well
as those that are consistently prompt and prepared.
