Dumfries & Galloway Personality Disorder Support Group offers help, hope
and understanding to family, friends and loved ones affected by Personality
Disorder.
Our Group is open to
 People with experience of living with the condition, whether diagnosed or
not
 Friends, families and carers of people affected by a Personality Disorder
 Professionals caring for someone with long term mental health problems
awaiting a diagnosis or with a Personality Disorder diagnosis in place.
 Any other person or group who shares the values of the Personality
Disorder Group.
Our aims are:
 To learn more about the Personality Disorder experience, and the factors
which help and hinder it, and to share that learning.
 To improve the rights, services and treatment of our loved ones suffering
from Personality Disorder and also for the people who help care for them.
 To try and improve the way people awaiting a diagnosis and their Carers
are treated
 Raising awareness of Personality Disorder and challenging the stigma
and discrimination surrounding PD in general.
We are passionate about trying to improve the way in which Carers of someone
with Personality Disorder have access to the correct information regarding
treatment of their loved ones and that they have access to appropriate training
and support to enable them to care for and understand their loved ones in the
manner they deserve.
We believe that people with direct experience of Personality Disorder and their
Carers have an expertise that cannot be found elsewhere. Collective advocacy
can harness this expertise and use it to influence the ways in which services are
developed and run, to educate professionals and the public, and to also empower
and influence the lives of our loved ones suffering from PD.
