Job Description Personality Disorder Development Service Coordinator Responsible to: Salary: Hours: Community Services Manager Annual Leave: Based: Contract: 25 days per annum Oakland House, Old Trafford, Manchester Fixed term – 1 year £22903 37.5 hours per week Main Purpose of the Post The post holder will develop and provide coordination for a new and exciting Personality Disorder Multi Agency development services, commissioned for a pilot year by NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group. The service aims to develop strong seamless links between mental health services and the wider multi-agency system for the benefit of people with Personality Disorder (PD) by undertaking a liaison, training and awareness-raising function with key stakeholders (i.e. Police, Probation, A&E, Housing, Drug and Alcohol services, Children’s Services etc). The service will specifically work to: Improve service user experience Engage ‘experts by experience’ in training and awareness-raising activity with multi-agency representatives across public services. Challenge stigma and discrimination, improve attitudes and increase knowledge and awareness of PD in the wider system. Reduce transition in people with PD to more costly services such as secondary mental health care/prisons. Develop workforces to become more responsive to personality disorder by providing leadership and support in the development of service specific projects. Main duties Develop and launch the Personality Disorder Multi Agency Development service Recruit and train ‘experts by experience’ to deliver awareness training to multi-agency representatives (PD Champions) across public services Liaise with statutory and third sector organisations to identify and encourage the participation of PD Champions in cascading PD awareness across organisations Market and publicise the programme to a range of agencies and organisations across the geographical footprint of the project Coordinate regular multi-agency Personality Disorder forums to act as hubs for PD activity across Salford Coordinate and/or deliver a programme of development, awareness raising and training provision across agencies, including skills-based workshops for front-line practitioners Manage & record risk incidents according to SHS policy and procedure Be involved in the budgetary management of the project, and ensure effective financial administration of the project. Maintain adequate records as required by existing policies and procedures, using appropriate paper and electronic systems Collate monthly, quarterly and annual service reports including incidents, comments and complaints from service users, and all service performance data required by commissioners and the Big Life Company. To work in accordance with all Policies and Procedures of Self Help Services and the Big Life Group To identify and attend training as required To work in accordance with all relevant legislation To undergo regular supervision and an annual appraisal To undertake any other duties as required, appropriate to the post Person specification Essential (E) Desirable (D) Person Specification Experience Minimum 3 years experience of working in the field of mental health care and/or wellbeing services or projects E Experience of coordinating, delivering and promoting projects or services E Experience of managing paid staff and/or volunteers D Experience of devising, coordinating and/or delivering training programmes D Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders including GPs, voluntary and statutory sector mental health services E Knowledge Good knowledge and understanding of the value and principles of peer support E and experience-led services An understanding of mental health conditions, particularly Personality Disorders, and the principles of the mental health recovery approach E An understanding of current policy and good practice in relation to mental health and peer support E An understanding of services available for those with Personality Disorders and relevant treatment guidance relating to PD D Skills Excellent oral and written presentation skills E Good record keeping and organisational abilities to ensure effective monitoring and management of the project E Good word processing and IT skills E Good time management skills, ability to prioritise work effectively and work to deadlines E Ability to advise, inform, motivate and support individuals E Ability to network and develop good working relationships with a range of agencies Personal Qualities & experience A commitment to supporting people with mental ill-health and promoting recovery E Self motivated, flexible and enthusiastic, possessing a can-do approach and using one’s own initiative to bring work to a successful conclusion E Commitment to the objectives and values of Self Help Services and The Big Life group E Personal first hand experience of mental health problems, particularly personality disorder issues D E The closing date for applications is Friday 3rd April, 5pm; applications received after this time will not be considered.
