Team Equipment
With so many new swimmers on the team this season, we want to make sure everyone gets
outfitted in the team suit for our competitions. Part of being a team is looking like a team! To that
end, please visit Action Accents online at www.actionaccents.com. Our custom team page is
now password protected. To access our team page, use the following username and login
information:
Login / Username: swimindy
Password: swimindy907
Team suits are available on our team page as well as practice suits and training equipment, and
team caps are available from the coaching staff. If you’re looking for an additional good deal on
practice suits, the website www.discountswim.com is offering the “Ugglies” practice suits
(bright colors, floral prints) for $19.99 each.
Mock Meet
Because we have so many new swimmers, the club will host a mock meet on Wednesday,
October 24 for all members of the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Novice Groups. Warmups for all
groups will be at 6 p.m., with the meet beginning approximately 30 minutes later. Swimmers will
have the opportunity to swim 25s and 50s of all the strokes, as well as experience a meet
environment. The mock meets are an introduction to how a swim meet works, and a valuable
educational opportunity for new swimmers and parents alike. Because we have so many new
swimmers signed up for our October home meet (see below) the coaching staff felt like this
would be a great opportunity to get our kids ready to race! Please put the mock meet on your
schedule and plan to attend!
Team Picture
This is a first in recent memory for Swim INDY, but a full team picture (for all training groups)
has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 at 5:45 p.m. at Brownsburg High School. The
picture will include all coaches and (hopefully) all members of the Senior, Senior Development,
Gold, Silver and Bronze Groups. The photo will be taken by Kim Berry, a local photographer
who shoots many of the photos for the BHS sports teams. Kim will also offer individual shots
that night for parents who would like prints, buttons, etc … Much more information will be
available soon regarding the picture, including pre-order envelopes for individual photos.
However, there is one other element to the photo. As mentioned above, part of being a team is
looking like a team. With that in mind, a new team T shirt is being designed for this event
specifically, and will bear the slogan that has been appearing at the bottom of these coach blasts
this season – “Everything Counts, Everyone Matters.” The shirts will be available soon from
Team Sports for the approximate cost of $10 per shirt. Once these shirts are available, please
purchase one to wear at the team picture. Again, this is the first team picture in recent memory for
Swim INDY and with so many new swimmers and so much progress being made, could be a
chance to capture the beginnings of something special! Please mark the date on your calendar and
when shirts are available, please purchase one for the event.
Practice Schedule Reminder
Please remember that there will be no practice for any of our training groups on Friday,
September 28 due to homecoming activities at Brownsburg High School.
Gold Group Saturday Practice
Coach Andy has scheduled a Saturday morning practice for the Gold Group on Saturday,
September 29, from 8-10 a.m. at Brownsburg High School.
Note from Coach Raz
I wanted to let all the Silver and Bronze swimmers know that I’m very pleased with both the
practice attendance and practice effort in the past two weeks. You’re all making a lot of progress
and learning the strokes and how to practice. There is a lot to learn, so please have patience! But
you’re doing a great job and you’re all getting better each day. Keep up the good work, and go
Cyclones!
Meet Deadlines
Entries for our first meet (Southeastern Swim Club “Swim Fest” – October 12-14 @ Fishers
H.S.) have been submitted to the host club and are pending acceptance. When / if we are accepted
to this meet, the entry file will be posted on the club website. We had 42 swimmers signup for
this meet, which is the largest number of swimmers for a non-home meet that we’ve had in a long
time! Also, signups for our home meet (October 27-28 @ Brownsburg H.S.) are open until
Friday, October 5. We currently have 51 swimmers entered for this meet, with room for more!
Great job Cyclones, turning out to support your team! While we can be a little more flexible with
entries due to the fact that we are hosting the meet, we would still like everyone to abide by the
deadline. If you are new to the club or still need a password to the online signup area of the Swim
INDY website (online meet signups), please contact Nancy Jones.
Parent Meetings
Thank you to all the parents who attended the various meetings over the past two weeks.
Communication between coaches, swimmers and parents helps make sense of all the information
out there regarding competitive swimming, and allows everyone a better understanding of what
we’re all working towards. As always, the coaches are available via email and before and after
practice for questions. Thanks again, and go Cyclones!
Congratulations!
Swim INDY and Brownsburg High School alumni David Birrer (Wabash College) and Chris
Hammer (Butler University) were recently named Academic All-Americans by the National
Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.
