1) Due Dates
The assignments are due on or before the final day of class. See Class Calendar for actual due
dates as they range throughout the semester. Please save all assignments as PDF documents
(you can print any document to PDF which will save the document as a PDF file) or as Excel
Spreadsheets, depending on what is requested. Append each document to the previous one so
that you have only one PDF file when you are finished. The PDF file or the Excel Workbook will
then be uploaded into Blackboard. Plan on one PDF file or Excel Workbook for each assignment
that is to be turned in; however, append to the back of that assignment all the other
assignments required even though they are not being graded. For example, Sage Ch2 Ex. 2-2
will be graded; appended to that assignment should also be Sage Ch 1 Ex 1-2 (you do NOT need
to append data files [.ptb], just the exercises that create output which usually follow the first
exercise that creates or saves the data files).
Late assignments will be accepted up until the day of the final exam but will only receive 75% of
the grade you earn. Assignments will not be accepted after the day of the final exam.
THESE ASSIGNMENTS ARE TIME CONSUMING. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT TILL THE LAST MOMENT
TO COMPLETE THEM. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THEM THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER AND
PLAN ON FINISHING WELL BEFORE THE DUE DATE. ALSO, PLEASE BE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR
WORK ON A REGULAR BASIS AS YOUR GO THROUGH THE STEPS.
PLEASE see the following ‘schedule’ which walks you through this course in a 15-week
framework. I have based due dates on this schedule, but will accept assignments/quizzes for
chapters 1, 2, and 3 up to the due date for chapter 3 as being on time. You may submit any
assignment late, but it is subject to a 25% reduction in points. Please note that all
assignments/quizzes are online – see below in the detailed schedule.
NOTE. I will accept assignments early. Early assignments are subject to extra credit.
2) Assignment grading
a. Each turn-in assignment/quiz listed on the syllabus (see end of this memo) includes
multiple outputs from the end-of-chapter exercises. These turn-in assignments will be
equally weighted and will each represent 2% of your final grade for a total of 10% of your
final grade. Not every chapter has a turn-in assignment/quiz.
b. There are two comprehensive projects as well which add up to another 10% of your final
grade.
c. Chapter 15 does not have to be completed but will count for extra credit of 2% of your
final grade.
3) Information to be turned in:
a. For each chapter, you will usually only complete online material and only submit certain
chapters. Please do not send a completed QA template to be graded if it is not
requested. See the schedule below.
4) Extra Credit:
a. If you choose to complete Chapter 15, it will count as extra credit. Should you not turn in
Chapter 15, it will not count against you.
GRADING POLICY:
The tables below illustrate points, grading scale, and grading instruments. See the syllabus for
