‘It’s a Beautiful World’, 20th February 2014
Submission Details
The ‘It’s a Beautiful World’ Exhibition celebrates the beauty in our everyday world of
medicine, healthcare and science. For some, it may be the beauty of an electron
microscopy image; for others it may be the smile of a patient just finished chemotherapy
or of a mother holding her newborn baby. The ‘Natural History’ section relates to images
of the natural sciences.
This is a big and diverse undertaking and we need your help and support.
The first thing to do is to let us know if you plan to enter by completing the
Registration form at the end of this document and emailing to: jenningsgallery@ucc.ie.
Please note the following:
 Exhibits must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
 Entrants must submit a paragraph explaining the image (i.e this image is an
electron microscopy image of an IgG antibody …’
 Each entry must have a title.
 Each entrant must sign a photographic release form to enable the work to be
photographed for the Jennings Gallery webpage and promotional purposes.
 Please send us a high-resolution image of your work as soon as your work is
completed.
 Please send us a brief bio (3 lines!).
Example: ‘Kate Molloy is a 4th year medical student who took up photography two years
ago. She enjoys photographing people in their day to day lives. This is the first exhibition of
her work.’

Consent to be photographed and to publish photographs must be obtained from any
persons (or guardians if under 18) featured in photographs. Photographic release
forms available from Jennings Gallery.

Will all entries be accepted?
A Jennings Gallery Committee will review all submissions. Submissions may not be
accepted if they are totally unrelated to the theme or are of very poor standard or
offensive.
In the event of the exhibition being oversubscribed, entrants who submit more than one
piece will be asked to select which of their 2 pieces they wish to include in the
exhibition.
What is the deadline for receipt of submissions?
The deadline is 7th February 2014.
What about Framing?
All pieces must be framed by the artist. Marcus Framing can advise on ‘It’s a Beautiful
World’ exhibition frames (black or cream – whichever best suits your work). The
Jennings Gallery may be able to provide some frames for students – we need to know
exhibit sizes at least 2 weeks before the exhibition.
Can I sell my work?
Of course! Sales are subject to the Jennings Gallery Standard Operating Procedure.
How is pricing decided?
The artist will agree prices with the Jennings Gallery Exhibition Committee.
Can I invite guests to the launch?
Of course! You can invite 4 guests but need to send their names and email addresses to
the Jennings Gallery 2 weeks before the launch.
Will my work be included in the Exhibition Brochure?
While we will attempt to include as many images as possible in the Exhibition Brochure,
unfortunately we cannot include all images. However, all artworks will be listed,
accompanied by the artist’s name.
