www.davidwoodings.com SEPTEMBER 2013 NEWSLETTER Welcome to the September Newsletter. In a few days daylight saving will plunge us into summer, warmer temperatures, barbeques and beaches. Still Lives A suite of the Still Lives works was exhibited at gallery@109 from 13 May – 2 June this year and was well patronised, signalling that there is now enough change in suburban Christchurch to signal that a small corner gallery in Woolston is not out of place. Two works from the exhibition were sold to the Waikato Museum of Art and History through the Barry Hopkins Trust and two further works have buyer interest. And my continued commitment to the Winners/Losers work of 2012 (referencing the fact that nothing has yet changed within the circumstances in which the work was created) the first 4 works in my ‘2013 Silver Calendar’ were also exhibited. The final (in 2013) Still Lives work, Still Lives #89 for Huia was completed midyear. The work is currently on exhibition at gallery@109 until the end of October with a special price of $7,500 (incl). [This is unless the work is selected for exhibition in the Central Otago Art Award and has to be shipped to Queenstown.] Still Lives #89 for Huia: 2013. oil on wood panel 61 x 91 cm $7,500 Limited edition giclee prints of this work are available at $250 (incl). Each print measures 43 x 63.5 cm. OUT OF ORDER After completing the first two phases of under painting, Out of order #3 the work was put into storage in 2011 as the Winners/losers series hold for well over a year. With the announcement mid-year that Bob Parker was resigning the mayoralty it seemed appropriate to finish the work, although the relationship is tenuous at best. Out of order #3 for Bob: 2013 oil on canvas 150 x 180 cm $12,500 OUT OF ORDER series giclee prints The limited edition giclee prints produced of the first two works continue to draw interest and a number have been sold this year. I have also now printed a limited edition of Out of Order #3 on high quality paper. Prints are $250 each (GST Inc). Pack and post add $10. I have also secured framed versions (cream mount and white frame) available for $425 (GST Inc). Pack and post to be negotiated with purchasers. Email me woodings@clear.net.nz if you would like to order prints. ‘OUT OF ORDER’ - EXHIBITION My November exhibition at gallery@109 will be the Out of order works, and this is your invite either to view the show or to come along to the opening.
