Purpose

People credited with this unit standard are able to use and maintain: loading

Element 1
Use and maintain loading equipment.
Performance criteria
1.1
Produce is placed on or in the loading equipment to meet packhouse demand
for sorting produce.
Range

Empty containers are removed and stacked according to workplace procedures.

Loading equipment is maintained in accordance with workplace procedures and
manufacturer’s specifications.
Element 2
Use and maintain packhouse equipment.
Performance criteria
2.1
Equipment is checked to see that produce and containers are not being
damaged.

Equipment is checked to see that it is working in accordance with
manufacturer’s specifications and workplace procedures.

The lighting over the sorting table is checked to ensure it meets illumination
grade standards.

3.3
Volume of produce moving over the sorting and sizing table is monitored to
meet requirements of sorters and packers in accordance with workplace
procedures.
3.4
Sizing machines are maintained in accordance with workplace procedures
and/or manufacturers’ specifications.
Element 4
Use and maintain packaging equipment.
Performance criteria
4.1
Sealing material used is appropriate to the packaging equipment and packaging
material.
4.2
Packaging equipment is used safely in accordance with manufacturers’
specifications and workplace procedures.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.

standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
