Make Your MK Career “User Friendly”
If you are describing your MK Career would you say it is “User Friendly”
right now?
I see so many consultants get frustrated with our career. It is not easy &
built over night, but you can make it simple. I think the one thing that many
consultants do not understand”Efforts Bring Results”! No Efforts Bring
No Results!
When you have a job, you must block off time for that JOB. Years ago as a
Director, I was not as firm as I am now. I ask a New Consultant if they will
give me 2 hours a week to build their MK Business. Every job requires
time. If you do not get trained…you will not know what you are doing
correct or incorrect. We have an amazing Tuesday night program.
(none of us Directors had these options-a separate room for makeovers &
several different Directors with years of experience) So, take advantage
of every Tuesday night meeting. My husband, children & grandchildren
know that Tuesday nights I am working. (of course there are exceptions)
Tuesday Nights-Great! Now, what other time have you told your family you
are working? Family—I am working every Tuesday night & ______________.
Now, Let’s say I have a great Hostess who would like to schedule a Party
tomorrow. She has 3 guaranteed guests & will work around your
schedule!
1. Do you have a roll up packed & ready to show?
2. Do you have your Demos ready to use?
3. Do you have a Hostess Plan that you love & are excited about?
4. Do you have a Recruit Packet to give out?
5. Do you have makeover packets put together & ready for each guest?
6. Do you have inventory to sell?
If you said yes to all of these questions, then you are ready!! If not, do you
see where you need help? You should have these items ready to go NOW!
It is critical that you have a Roll up set up & ready to show…This is What
You are Selling!! Your customers want to see & feel the products.
Now you know when you are working, & you know what you are selling,
where will you be working? Your Office is also critical. We talked about
this a few weeks ago, but I want to go back over this. Men may need a
“man cave”, but we need MK space! Make it user friendly & you will love
going there.
I mentioned last time that Trisha Coker used her laundry room for years
because it was at the back of her home. She worked in the Laundry Room
& kept inventory there, but her kitchen table was just outside & she could
do a quick makeover there.
Most of us use an extra bedroom, part of your kitchen, a sun room or
????? The goal is for you to love your office & be glad to go there to work.
You will treat your MK more seriously & so will your family. If they never
see you working, they probably never see any $$$. So they will not treat
your career seriously.
However, if they see $$$, that benefits them, they will help you work. NSD
Connie Kittsen said that when her kids were little, the goal was for her to
leave the house with no tears. So, if she could leave & there were no tears
& holding on to her leg when she left home-each child would get $1 for
each party she held.
[Each child had cut out a picture of a toy that they wanted. It was taped to
a big jar & the dollars were put inside until they reached the amount. Then
the kids got to go buy the toy.—Moral to the story-the kids were excited
when she left the house]
Connie also mentioned how she worked with & trained her children how to
help her in her career. She started out married with 2 kids. Suddenly, she
was single with 2 kids. She did not quit, she allowed them to help her.
They unpacked boxes for her & put up the products. Once they started
driving, they delivered orders to customers for her.
I remember my first Secretary was the daughter of one of my customers.
She was a Sanford student & could not find a job to work around her
schedule. She only worked a few hours a week to help me with
paperwork. I taught her to balance a checkbook & how to talk with
customers in a professional way. This was a benefit for her & for me.
Now, how about making things easier for you? How many of you have
ever used the Customer Delivery Service??? MK offers a great service for
all of us. This is great for Consultants who have 2 jobs & little spare time,
Consultants who may be out of town for vacation or business, Consultants
who do not have specific products that a customer needs. Go to the first
column “ordering” on In Touch & the last item is Customer Delivery
Service. Get the info there.
Which brings me to the last question…WHY are you selling MK? Where is
YOUR benefit? Is it extra CASH for bills, is it for a House Keeper, is it for a
yard man,
Is it for private school for kids, is it for a family vacation?????
I want to make MK easier for you so that you will work the business &
make the money your want. When you see that you can earn $50-$100 per
hour bringing guests to Tuesday night, you will continue to bring guests.
When you get more knowledge & training, then you will continue to come.
When your MK office is fun & an exciting place for you to go, you will make
time to call & book appts.
It all works together. Whether MK is a supplement to your family income
or you are the breadwinner, make it easier & “user friendly.”
