Roma bullocks make 159c/kg
A total of 1475 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Prime Sale on Thursday.
Steers over 550kg sold to 159c/kg and averaged 143c/kg, while steers in the
400-550kg sold to 147c/kg and averaged 132c/kg.
The Sullivan family, Studley, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 159c and
152c/kg for 678kg to return $1031/head.
The Gray family, Highview, Surat, sold Charolais steers to 154c for 653kg to
make $1007.
Colin Joliffe, Landreath, Amby, sold Santa steers to 154c for 581kg to return
$897.
Hendon Park Pastoral Co, Waldrona, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 147c for
615kg to return $905.
Kilmorey Cattle Co, Kilmorey, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 147c
for 578kg to make $851.
Heifers over 450kg sold to 130c/kg and averaged 122c/kg, while heifers in the
350-450kg category returned 128c/kg and averaged 112c/kg.
Ken Syme, Woodlands, Mitchell, sold a Brahman heifer to 130c for 470kg to
make $611.
The Joliffe family, Walhallow, Amby, sold Santa heifers to 123c for 596kg to
return $735.
The Stafford family, Cooinda, Yuleba, sold Charolais-cross cows to 119c for
582kg to make $694.
The Nelder family, Charleville, sold Santa heifers to 112c for 504kg to make
$565.
Cows over 500kg peaked at 119c/kg and averaged 96c/kg, while cows in the
400-500kg class topped at 115c/kg and averaged 89c/kg. Cows 300-400kg made
to 99c/kg and averaged 81c/kg.
The Noller family, Delga, Wandoan, sold Charolais cows to 117c for 771kg to
return $904.
The Sutton family, Tallawalla, Roma, sold Brahman-cross cows to 110c for
541kg to make $595.
Bulls over 600kg topped at 156c/kg and averaged 133c/kg.
