Roma heavy steers return 172c/kg
A total of 10,200 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaners under 220kg topped at 175c/kg and averaged 150c/kg, while weaner
steers in the 220-280kg range reached 194c/kg and averaged 153c/kg. Steers in
the 280-350kg range reached 192c/kg and averaged 136c/kg, and steers in the
350-400kg range reached 174c/kg and averaged 138c/kg. Feeder steers in the
400-550kg range topping at 172c/kg and averaging 142c/kg.
The Macrae family, Dalkeith, Jackson, sold Angus-cross steers to 194c/kg for
246kg to return $479/head. They also sold Angus-cross heifers to 136c for 318kg
to make $434.
The Bidgood family, Katoomba, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 192c for
291kg to return $559.
The Flower family, Garrabarra, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 190c for 327kg
to make $623. They also sold Angus-cross heifers to 133c for 374kg to return
$498.
Margarita Kehl, Hillview, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 189c for
263kg to make $498.
The Vincent family, Hidden Springs, Injune, sold Angus-cross steers to 179c for
303kg to return $542. They also sold Cross Bred heifers to 134c for 317kg to
make $425.
The Rolfe family, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 178c for 327kg
to return $584.
Whitton Cattle Co, Myrtleville, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 172c for
306kg to make $527. Their consignment of 175 head of steers averaged 161c for
335kg to return $540. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 145c for 338kg to
make $490. Their consignment of 80 head of heifers averaged 138c for 328kg to
return $451.
The Brennan family, For Far, Mitchell, sold Charbray steers to 171c for 309kg to
return $529. The entire consignment of 74 head averaged 157c for 261kg to
make $409. They also sold Charbray heifers to 138c for 211kg to return $291
and the entire consignment of 61 head averaged 125c for 234kg to make $292.
Deane Grazing Co, Malboona Station, Corfield, sold Droughtmaster steers to
170c for 250kg to return $426. They averaged 158c for 204kg to make $322.
They also sold Droughtmaster heifers to 140c for 233kg to return $327. Their
consignment of 624 head of heifers averaged 137c for 181kg to make $247.
No 27 Pastoral Co, Eurolie, Barcaldine, sold Droughtmaster steers to 164c for
287kg to make $472.
S.A Houston, Erindale, Wallumbilla, sold Angus-cross steers to 162c for 420kg to
return $681.
The Everingham family, Killoran, Injune, sold Santa-cross steers to 162c for
356kg to make $578.
The Anscombe family, The Range, Roma, sold Droughtmaster steers to 162c for
287kg to return $466.
Wellesley Pastoral Co, Surat, sold Charolais-cross steers to 162c for 266kg to
make $432.
Landsend Pastoral Co, Julia Creek, sold Charbray steers to 160c for 377kg to
make $604. They averaged 128c for 346kg to return $442 for 464 head of steers.
Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 133/kg and averaged 108c/kg.
Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 145c/kg and averaged 114c/kg.
Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 140c/kg and averaged 123c/kg, while
heifers under 220kg topped at 146c/kg and averaged 130c/kg.
Bangor Cattle Co, Mungallala, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 140c for 476kg to
make $668.
The Robson family, Mt View, Morven, sold Braford-cross heifers to 136c for
218kg to return $297.
The Nicholson family, Willowan, Longreach, sold Brahman-cross heifers to 100c
for 276kg to return $276. For a consignment of 131 heifers they averaged 92c for
273kg to make $251.
Cows over 500kg hit 126c/kg and averaged 112c/kg, while cows 400-500kg
topped at 119c/kg and averaged 91c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 105c/kg
and averaged 69c/kg.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 130c/kg and average 103c/kg.
